Resumo: The host organization is a bilingual (german/french) day care centre situated in the western part of the city centre. The centre offers a full-day childcare from 07.00 to 17.30 hours for 61 children. One group offers 10 vacancies for children who are younger than 3 years, two more groups offer vacancies for children from the age 2 to 6 and one group with children from the age of 1 to 6.

The children have a daily breakfast and lunch. A various program is offered: beside the classical games for children they have the possibility to deal with different topics. They can experience themselves by playing and working with art and colours, train their bodies in sports, be curious in experiments and natural sciences, enjoy a community in role playing and make steps in building and construction. Each topic is situated in a special room with the suitable materials.

The main focus of the day care centre is the bilingual concept as well as the health concept of Sebastian Kneipp. The educators try to introduce the children to a healthy attitude of life by offering playful methods. The children should learn what makes me healthy, how does my body feel like, how can I keep my well-being?

The children are accompied by the educators. The main goal is that the interest of the children is seen by the educators and that the children get supported. Additional excursions and cooperations
with other institution take place.

The day care centre offers vacancies for all children, no matter what nationality or social background they have. Also children with disabilities are received. It's only important to have a mix of age and gender of the children in the group.

Perfil: All volunteers have to be between 18 and 30 years old. Beside this we are open for every application. There are some things which in our opinion could make the daily life and work easier for the volunteers. To reach a fast integration of the volunteer in the day care centre and the local community, basics in English and/or German would be very helpful. So it will be much easier for the volunteers to get in different contacts. For sure the volunteers will also get a German language course.

As the volunteers will work together with children and youth she/he should be interested and maybe also have first experiences in working in this field. She/he should also be willing to work in a team.

The volunteer should be willing to participate with her/his own experiences in the daily work of the
day care centre. She/he should also be open for new experiences and show some flexibility.

Tarefas: The tasks for the volunteers in all day care centres will be mainly the same, but the focus of each day care centre is different. The specific description of the various day care centres you can find in the descriptions of the hosting organizations above.

The volunteers will support the daily activities with the kids, art activities, sports, experimental activities, role playing, building and construction. Depending on the own interests of the volunteers there's the possibility to support one of these topics with own workshops or ideas - and also to realize an own little project within this topic.
Furthermore he/she will participate in the designing and arranging of youth camps. The volunteers will have the chance to qualify as a youth leader under German standards and receive a Youth Leader Certificate (JULEICA). The volunteer swill take part in a youth camp. She/he should help with the preparation, realization and evaluation of the youth camp and work together with other youngsters and volunteers.

Beside the volunteer will have the possibility to join the events which the coordinating organization is offering regularly. The coordinating organization is working with many young volunteers in the age of 16 to 30 so the volunteer will have the possibility to get to know many young people. They will also offer regularly meetings for all EVS volunteers to connect them.
