Resumo: The project will take place at the BEAR SANCTUARY, near the village which is inhabited by around 900 people. Near from the sanctuary there is an artificial lake built in order to supply the city with drinking water. The location is a peaceful environment (far enough from traffic and other noises) surrounded by the forest and meadows where locals raise their cattle as well cultivate their land with cereals and vegetables to provide food for their needs mainly. Local people are tolerant and hospitable.

Perfil: we expect volunteers which are motivated to support our programs, ready to gain new competences, open to new ideas and approaches, interested to establish new contacts and friendships. We expect them to be respectful, open-minded, to desire volunteering in teamwork, as well as we want them to be responsible, autonomous and eager to take initiative. The volunteers should be aware of working in associations. We are seeking for volunteers who have several skills in these fields: cultural, social and environmental projects.

Tarefas: Care for Brown Bears is a project which aims to provide opportunities for people who wish to get involved in animal welfare projects. The volunteers will be part of the team which is responsible to carry on the daily activities at the BEAR SANCTUARY where 16 bears rescued from bad circumstances in captivity are provided with conditions where they are able to live according to their characteristic behaviour. The main jobs include preparing food for bears, monitoring their behaviour and helping with visitor tours.

Everyday life, the volunteers will have interaction with visitors as well they will help all the programs happening at the sanctuary (events, workshops, educational activities with students). BEAR SANCTUARY is a project founded by the animal welfare organization with its headquarters. The aim was to rescue bears which were been kept in captivity near restaurants in Kosovo and to keep them in appropriate conditions.
