Resumo: "Latvia is a country of East Europe near the Baltic sea with 2.5 million inhabitants. Rçzekne is a city in the Latgalia region of eastern Latvia, also known by the nickname ""Latgales sirds"" meaning ""The Heart of Latgalia"". Built on seven hills, Rçzekne is situated 242 km east of Riga, and 63 km west of the Latvian-Russian border. It has a population of 35,500 thousand people (2009), making it the 7th largest city in Latvia. Rezekne have different nationalities, the most part of them are Latvians and Russians. Rezekne is rich of nature gifts. The area of the region is famous of its lakes and hills, forests and parks. Our Latgalian region is called ""District of Blue Lakes"". There are Higher Educational Institute, Music College, Art College, some technical and professional schools, seven secondary schools, a professional theatre, museums. Our town is famous with unique ceramics and handicrafts and Latgalian traditionsRezekne is an important geographical, cultural and educational centre of the Latgale region which has some serious economic and social problems nowadays. But in spite of that more and more attention is being paid to the development of the town every year.
In the town Rezekne there are a lot of national minorities. So the people live very friendly in multinational and multicultural society respecting each other with mutual understanding. For the volunteers who come to our town there will be opportunity to live in the multinational society and get some experience and knowledge about new European country, Latvian culture and Latgalian traditions.
Volunteer will live in the student hostel or in the appartment together with another European volunteers. The volunters will share the room with others volunteers of the same gender and they must be open to live in community. If the volunteer wishes, there is a possibility to live in a host family. There are rules in the apartment, where volunteers will live, that can be supervised in case of problems.

Perfil: "We are looking for volunteers who is interested in the target group (children/ youth) and in the development of activities in animation (culture, art, expression, sport activities, leisure time activities, etc.) As we work lot with children from poor/disadvantaged families and anti-social families, volunteer should be open minded and able to face dificulties in the work. The volunteer should be at least 18 years old, given the fact that he/she will take part in working with under-18 years.
The volunteers are chosen by the CV and the motivation letter, the experience of work with children and young people is always a good point for us. There are not any discrimination in sex, religion or race.
In what concerns to the sending organization we are open colaborate with any one who feels interested and motived to work with this project. The contact with the sending organization is important to us, because we can become partners in different projects and change new ideas.

Tarefas: "With EVS we want to encourage young people to share their experience and skills, to increase their social integration and active participation, give them an opportunity to show solidarity with the other people and promote cooperation of youth from different countries and break some untrue stereotypes.
The volunteer will have the oportunity to get to know our culture and to learn the latvian language. The language classes wil be given by a teacher, that teaches latvian language in the secondary school. The frequency and duration of the lessons will depend on the needs of the volunteer. This classes will take place in the Youth centre or secondary school. The volunteer will always be supported by the Tutor or his representant and all the staff of the organization. If, for some reason, a problem appears to the volunteer it should be, in first order, discussed with the person that is working directely with the volunteer and then, if the problem persist, a meeting with the tutor will be made.
The role of the volunteer, with the support of the organisation, will be the integration in the project and in the community bringing new ideas and giving us a view about his own culture. The volunteer will be a part of the team and will participate in stuff meetings.
The volunteer will prepare and help the staff of the organization doing educational, procreative, sportive and leisure time activities to the children/youngsters. Volunteer will have a possibility to adapt himself in rural area, to learn new social competences and how to work in the team.
In our centre we have sereveral activities which are already a tradition, for example, art-terapy workshops, photography exhibitions, ""Popielas"" festival, where youngsters from all city schools make a performances for a songs; Hip-hop music and dance festival in summer. As organization is active in programme ""Youth in action"", than volunteer will also help in planning and organizing international activities.
Volunteer will also have the opportunity to develop his/her own activities and realize new ideas. The stuff of the organization will provide all necessary help (materials, methods, etc.), but the volunteer must be autonomous to think and to prepare activities. There is the possibility to prepare activities related to themes like citizenship, European Union and Youth Programme to demonstrate to the youngsters in the Youth open centre and in the schools of the city. We are always open to new ideas and new practices as they can be used to our work in future.
