Resumo: The host organization is a Synagogues of the Jewish Community. Our synagogue is affiliated with the Masorti movement and grew out of the need for an alternative, egalitarian approach to Jewish religious life. The Rabbi became our rabbi in February 2007. Rabbi is a member of the International Rabbinical Assembly, the association of Conservative/Masorti Rabbis, and she is also the founder of Masorti Germany. The goal of the synagogue is to provide a safe space for its members and guests where they can actively shape Jewish life. Not only is the synagogue a place where regular services and celebrations take place and where important life-cycle ceremonies are prepared and carried out. In fact the community accompanies its members on their individual Jewish path, develops educational projects, supports and promotes volunteers and voluntary activities and is active in the inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue. The target group of the synagogue are Jews of all ages with diverse social, economic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

There are many nationalities in the Synagogue, and especially families with children enjoy being part of the community. Between 40 and 70 people attend the regular services and activities of the community, when there are special events the Synagogue welcomes up to 150 (and on particular days up to 300) guests. The synagogue offers activities for groups of all ages by the Rabbi, the Cantor or the very active synagogue board, or by the members of the Synagogue themselves. Different areas of the life of the Synagogue are under the responsibility of volunteers, e.g. parents are responsible for the planning and organisation of the children's service.Jewish life in Germany is always conntected to the past and the Shoah. Furthermore, the synagogue is home to one of the few officiating female Rabbis in Germany and it is located in the "new center", in the building of the Centrum Judaicum/New Synagogue in close proximity of the Jewish High-School. For all these reasons the synagogue and its team and Rabbi are often the first point of contact and "informational ressource" for questions about Jewish life Germany. It also opens its doors regularly to non-Jewish visitors.
