Resumo: This is an EVS project that will gather 10 volunteers from Programme Countries in order to promote social awareness, tolerance and acceptance for youngsters with less opportunities by cultural diversity and non-formal educational methods.

Perfil: Volunteers must have a genuine interest in social work, working with children and young adults with physical and/or mental disabilities, and also with senior citizens from nursing homes. This will be main selection criteria. The candidates must also be: active, creative, innovative, open-minded, responsible, and motivated to do social work.
Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The volunteers of the Project will be directly involved in the planning, organization and implementation of non-formal activities in educational and social institutions in the city, activities directed towards the achievements of the project objectives.

The project is structured in 2 stages:
1st Stage: Preparation, adaptation and training
During this part the volunteers will get involved in the following phases:
- get to better know each other, the project and objectives, the hosting organization, get to explore the city and country;
- get to better know and understand the social institutions where they will work;
- take part in an induction training;
- start learning romanian with classes provided by hosting organization.

2nd Stage: Intergenerational activities and raising social awareness
After the volunteers have passed the initial stage of accomodating to the new environemnt and they have passed the initial training, the volunteers will focus on the following:
- the main objectives of the project are:
(1) to work with youngsters with fewer opportunities (physical and/or mental dissabilities, orphans, economic and/or social disadvantages),
(2) develop intergenerational activities, between the children and youngsters with dissabilities and senior citizens from the nursing homes and also
(3) to raise social awareness towards socially assisted persons ;
- short and long term planning regarding project objectives, using collected information, together with project staff from hosting organization;
- develop new or provide support to develop activities based on each other skills and capacity, in categories such as: art, drama, handicraft workshops, language classes, outdoor activities (sports, camping, trips, etc), thematic discussions and seminars;
- make a caravan to promote the project and raise social awareness in South West region;
- help develop a workbook wich contains examples of intergenerational activities and how to implement them.
