Resumo: The town with its approx. 15 000 inhabitants is the service-, industrial- and study centre in the area. The host organization is located in a small agricultural town... The national parks offer a chance to get to know the Finnish nature. As well as the wide-open plains typical of this area, the typical scenery consists of the eskers of the watershed, wide moors and swamps.

Through the volunteer our youngsters could get a chance to improve their language skills and to learn tolerance as well as get new points of views for matters concerning them like education, family life, professional life etc.

We believe that from us the volunteer could gain many new experiences. By working with us the volunteer can get a good overview over what life is like in a ordinary small Finnish town. By working together with Finns in a Finnish environment s/he gets to know Finnish lifestyle and culture very well.

Perfil: S/he should be motivated to represent her own culture and country but also motivated to learn about Finnish culture. The volunteer should be social, open-minded, unprejudiced and have a sense for adventures!
Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The volunteer will work together with local youth workers with many different tasks within the youth work. The main idea is that the volunteer will work in the Youth house. There s/he can meet youngsters, spend time with them, plan clubs, hobbies or evenings that s/he wants to carry out. For an example s/he can arrange a language course of her own language etc. The volunteer can also bring new activities to the community, like new hobbies or sports or whatever s/he is interested in.

The volunteer will also work in elementary schools and high schools in the area. The volunteer will tell about her country and culture and help the teachers during the lessons, for an example during geography or history lessons. S/he can help to arrange happenings within the language lessons etc. The volunteer will also take part in the activities of the youth parliament, for an example international happening, information meetings about different subjects like education, living conditions of young people etc. S/he will take part in planning activities and developing the work the youth parliament does.

The volunteer we are looking for is interested in other people and s/he is motivated to work with children and young people. The volunteer is prepared to live in a small town and s/he is ready to actively to take part in the life in the town.
