Resumo: The host organization aims to be an open and safe space. A place for reflection, critical exchange with the world you live in, to find silence and to have fun. The Youth Centre is rooted in Dominican tradition on the one hand and on the other in the noise and business of the city. We want to bring these two - reflection and action - together. Everybody, no matter your background or religious convictions – or the absence thereof – is welcome to participate in our activities.

The EVS programme at the organization is an extension of this aim in that it attempts to promote intercultural understanding between the European volunteers and the local people and to provide time and space for reflection, personal growth and critical engagement with a wide variety of topics and groups of people. As such, it offers the opportunity to learn by experience, but also to learn through exchange and thinking.

Perfil: Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The organization organizes various types of activities. Firstly there are the retreats for young people: groups from schools, church groups, student organizations come to live, talk, reflect, pray, meditate for a day or a weekend. The youth workers and the EVS-volunteers facilitate these weekends and create programmes. Secondly there is a constantly changing offer of activities on a local level. These may vary from evenings on philosophy, evenings for a group of youth who are so-called mantelzorgers (i.e. youth with care responsibilities in their home situation) in cooperation with care providers in the area, offering a podium to young musicians and participating in a neighbourhood music festival. The volunteers are invited to participate in making the programme and to organize activities. Thus the programme on offer also depends on the interests and talents the group brings. Thirdly, we aim to organize youth exchanges in cooperation with our partners internationally.
