Resumo: "The Project will take place in Estonia. In the county of Pärnumaa, parish of Tahkuranna and village of Uulu. The volunteer will live in Uulu in the local authority apartment or in a local hotel or hostel. He/she has to follow Estonian and Tahkuranna parish laws and rules of culture and sport centre.

The volunteers main activities will take place in The Culture and Sport Centre of Uulu, in the youth centre and in the local schools.

Tahkuranna parish streches as a narrow band along the coastline of the Pärnu and Liivi Bays approximately 46 km south of Pärnu. Tahkuranna territory is 103,4 km2. We have 8 villages and 1 small town, the population is about 2211 people. During the summer, the population increases up to 2800 people when people come to their summerhouses. The centre of the parish is Uulu, the distance from Pärnu is 15 km. The status of local authority was reestablished on 19th of December in 1991 and was renamed to Tahkuranna parish in 1995.
In Tahkuranna parish are 2 schools, Uulu Basic School and Tahkuranna Nursery-Elementary School.
In Uulu Basic School studies about 148 children and in Tahkuranna Nursery-Elementary School studies about 48 children.
The parish centre is in Uulu where are local authority office, the culture and sport centre, library, kindergarten, clinic, pharmacy, post office, shop and youth centre.
Skiing and horseback riding are very popular sport activities. The beautiful Jõulumäe Health Centre is also located in Tahkuranna parish. There are various ways to sport in summer and in winter.
Main employers in the parish are agriculture, wood handling and fishing.
The open youth centre of Tahkuranna Parish (T.A.N.K.) was situated at the beginning of 2007. At first there were one room for youngsters but now we have two rooms plus one room for art class.

Open Youth Centre is located in Uulu with local authority office and culture and sport centre. It? open from Monday to Friday (13.00-20.00).

In the youth centre youngsters can play different kind of board games, billiard, table-football and table-tennis. They can watch TV, listen to music or make music. There are many handbills, newsletters and advertisements to watch. If they have any questions or problems they can talk to youth worker.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday evening is hand-craft making class. Once in a month we arrange game evenings and movie evenings.

Last years biggest events: a weak against violence, military day organized by Voluntary Military Organization, photography course, photography contest, Valentines day disco, pyjamas party, orienteering, Indian evening, concert-play evening to celebrate youth centre`s birthday, two road trips to visit other open youth centres in the county, Children Protect Day, summer camp with other open youth centres in Estonia, Red Cross summer camp, backpacking with bicycles in and island.
The Culture and Sport Centre of Uulu arranges culture and sport courses and hobby-courses work. It organises the free time of people who live in the parish (for example Health Day, Woman`s Day, Name`s Day of our parish, Children`s Protect Day, summer camps, camps, youngsters discos, concertos, orienteering, hand-craft class, volley-ball class, skiing class etc.)
It also deals with youth work (open youth centre is in the same house).
There are 6 employees in the culture and sport centre: director, youth work coordinator, two administrators/cleaners and two coaches.
We generally work with young people, because there are many hobby courses in our house. But we also work with other target groups (elderly people, grown ups etc.)

Hobby courses in The Culture and Sport Centre of Uulu (course, time and the number of participants):

"" Folk dancing ""Ülejala"" (for grown ups) - every Monday and Wednesday (~15 people)
"" Sport`s course (for children) - every Tuesday and Thursday (~10 children)
"" Skiing training for beginners - every Tuesday and Thursday (~10 children)
"" Skiing training for advanced students - every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (~10 children)"

Perfil: "Young person pro-active, with desire to work with young people, sports and arts, communicative and ready to work in a small community around Pärnu (http://www.tahkuranna.ee/). The volunteer should be responsible, trustful, kindhearted, cheerful, empathic person and he/she should want to work with youngsters and elderly people. We want the person to be energetic, eagerd and motivated.
Recruitment process: we want potential volunteers to send us their CV-s into our e-mail and at the moment we don`t have any certain conditions for the Sending Organisation."

Tarefas: "Proposed activities for EVS volunteers:
What we can offer: opportunity to learn a new language (estonia) and improve english. Learn more about themselves, their own culture ( by doing culture evenings) and other cultures. Get out of their environment and experience new things. Have an experience of organizing indoor and outdoor activites and events. Have an experience of working with young people in a rural area. Also a lovely environment where to live and work. Kind and hospitable people.

The role of EVS volunteer:
To fortify the culture and sport centre`s, open youth centre`s, peoples and especially youngsters life in the parish of Tahkuranna with his/her culture, traditions, new ideas and practical help. Helping youth worker in open youth centre`s everyday life. Helping to get youngsters out of their homes and making them more active in the community by helping to organize and organizing activities, events. Also contributing in the everyday life of culture and sport centre, helping with activities that are organized by the parish schools or culture and sport centre. Helping to make up and organize activites that are ment for the people that are from the same parish but different villages.
Mostly the volunteer will start to work with young people. But when there is an event for example for old people or grown ups he/she would have to help to organise that as well.

Activities:
"" in which he/she could be involved -playing with kids in the open youth centre, Health Day, Woman`s Day, Name`s Day of our parish, Jüriöö running contest, Children`s Protect Day, summer camps, camps, youngsters discos, concertos, orienteering, hand-craft class etc.
"" in which he/she could create - his/her home land culture evening; workshops; culture, sport or youth activites/events.

Weekly plan (example):
Monday - Discussions and meetings to discuss about weekly plans or some intended activities. Meetings are with representatives from Culture and Sport Centre, open youth centre and sometimes from schools and local authority office. After that the volunteer can be in the open youth centre and play/talk/communicate etc. with youngsters/youth worker.
Tuesday - In the daytime the volunteer can be in the open youth centre and in the evening he/she can arrange his/her homeland culture evening.
Wednesday - is a creativity day. He/she can take part in different hobby courses (for example hand-craft course, dancing course or skiing training).
Thursday - is a planning day. He/she can plan his/her monthly activity or help youth worker to plan some other activities. Take part in open youth centre`s everyday work.
Friday - At the first month at Friday mornings will take place a parish introduction. The youth worker and the director of culture and sport centre will drive around with the volunteer and show him/her different community institutions. In the evening is a movie night or games night or disco/party. After the first month the volunteer can in the daytime take part in open youth centre`s everyday life and in the evening he/she can take part in the culture and sport centre`s sauna nights or games night, discos etc.

This plan doesn`t count If there is any event or festive. In that case the volunteer will have to help to organize or take part in that event. Like for example 06.-10 october 2008 will be an enovironmental week and 01.10.2008 is a senior`s day.
