Resumo: The school is located in a a dynamic city with its 270 000 inhabitants, with European and international flair, and has a key position in Europe. Its historical heritage attracts thousands of people

. Many recreation centers are open to young people from all origins, these are cosmopolitan meeting places and offer many possible activities. The city is where many different nationalities meet, so that it is important to learn to live together within a common rule and to facilitate the integration of those who are considered as foreigners.

The volunteer will be accomodated with other volunteers within the school and the food provided by the school. Each volunteer will have have his own room within the premises of the institution at the 5th floor of the school (private part of the building, to which the pupils don’t have access). The bathroom is at the same floor, the kitchen and the living-room are shared between all the volunteers.
The volunteers will be expected to respect the internal rules and the rules of life in a community (look after their room, share the facilities).

During the day, the volunteers have their meals at the canteen ar at the cafeteria with the children and the teachers. On evenings and on week-ends, they have the possibility to eat at the university canteen, which is 100m far from the institution, or to cook their meals themselves.

Perfil: We would prefer hosting an open-minded volunteer who is also motivated to present his home country. It is also important that the volunteer has a good sense of responsibility and is outgoing (especially with young people). Personal skills like singing, drama, dancing, painting, etc. would be appreciated.

The accomodation conditions do not allow mixity among the hosted volunteers. They do not allow the lodging on the same floor of the people invited by the volunteers either.

The selection procedure is done in cooperation with the coordinating organization. The coordinating organizationgets the applications and studies them. After (an) interview(s) with one or several applicants, it selects one that could fit our project and sends it to us with a summary of the interview. In case we decide to accept this application, the volunteer is asked to contact our institution so that we can get acquainted, answer questions and prepare his arrival at best.

Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The presence of European volunteers, be it in extra-curricular coaching or in leading activities, enables a cultural exchange. The pupils have the opportunity to get to know certain countries better thanks to theme weeks organized by the volunteers, on Germany, Hungary, United Kingdom, Turkey or any other European country, say, on other countries in the world by young people coming from China, Japan…

The school defines the volunteers’ tasks according to their skills and to the expectations of both parties. The service and the activities discussed with the volunteer must be in line with the objectives of this voluntary service: a year of opening to others, to non formal education and to maturing to adulthood.
The volunteers will at first be watching. They then will progressively be able to suggest activities to the pupils: presentation of their home country and their specialities, introduction to their culture and their language, sports and artistic activities dancing, choir, music, circus, handicrafts…). They intervene at the pupil’s club.

The volunteers intervene within the school life team with the objective of bringing a plus factor through their own skills. This will also be the occasion for them to assert themselves, to lend an ear to the young people, so as to possibly detect a problematic situation.

The volunteers have the possibility to attend French classes within the school in order to get prepared to take the exam of French as a Foreign Language .

A typical week is made of:
- supervision and activities leading in different places where the pupils are
- leading workshops
- extracurricular coaching
- a time for consultation and team meeting
- according to the volunteers’ needs, a course of French as a Foreign Language (preparation to the DELF or DALF exam, which the volunteers may take at the end of the year and entitles them to an international diploma )

The tasks may vary depending on celebration preparations (Christmas, Eastern, school bazaar at the end of the year) and to the volunteer’s personal project.

Out of 10 months of service, the volunteer works 35 hours a week during 36 weeks, and the school holidays are off. Except in exceptionnal circumstances, he neither works on Saturdays, nor on Sundays.
