Resumo: The hosting organization is based in a town with a population of over 300,000. Our offices are in the beautiful Bay area with good connections into the City a short 5 minute train or bus ride away. The town is a lively city with a large student population and many multi-cultural communities. It is located on the coast and has a history of shipping and industry relating to the docks and the Steel and Coal Industries mainly. The Bay area has undergone a long period of regeneration and is now home to many new businesses, particularly relating to cultural activites, and also has a thriving Water quarter with regular entertainment and leisure facilities.

Hosting organization operates on different levels – local and national. It runs activities in disadvantaged communities in particular. While there is a high level of youth unemployment in this area, there is also a great potential amongst young people in terms of their creative abilities. The organization exists to support such young people to realise and develop their potential. Many of the communities the organization works in are highly diverse with people of many cultures and nationalities.

The EVS volunteers tends to live in the centre and so have access to all the facilities the city has to offer. The town is famous for outstanding natural beauty and industry such as coal mining and steel production with varied and interesting history.

Perfil: Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The role of the EVS volunteers will largely depend on their own motivations but the following aspects will always feature in the role of an EVS volunteer at the host organization:
- To develop an exchange of experiences and ideas between the volunteer and the young people involved with the host organization.
- To support the development of the organization activities, its contact with the local community and its profile nationwide.
- To promote a wider awareness of international/European issues amongst local young people.
- To help bring a European dimension to the organization’s activities.
