Resumo: The Library is a budget organization. It is a cultural, educational and informational institution available to every user. It organizes citizens' reading, information services and leisure. The town municipal public library consists of the main library which has bibliography, document acquisition and readers service departments and 7 branch libraries. The library is involved in various national projects in order to become modern and serve the needs of its users.

Aims and goals of the library: ensure quick and wide access to information; implement new technologies and to better supply users and staff with computerized workstations; give an opportunity to freely access Internet, electronic catalogues and databases; render special services to different target groups; organize book, author, reading and other cultural events; preserve local lore and cultural heritage; teach citizens, especially socially vulnerable groups, computer literacy and involve them into the life of the community, cooperate with other cultural institutions of the city and country.

The library is also concerned with citizens' lifelong learning, trying to provide people of different age groups with opportunities to learn in informal and friendly environment and acquire new skills.
