Resumo: The volunteers will integrate into the activities which already work in the leisure-time and cultural association: for the children (playing room, handicraft, languages, painting, theater, campsites, etc.), teenagers (youth club, hip hop, brake dance, karate, judo, idiomas, theater, etc.) and adults (gymnastics, brain jogging, handicraft, cookery, film club, book club, etc.) in addition to other, open activities (gatherings, parties, etc.) which can be themed according to popular holidays (magosto, Christmas, Carnival…)
We believe that the cultural background, the different perspectives and ways of working, which an European Volunter could provide, would be very interesting for the different target groups: senior citizens, adults, teenagers and children and could inmensly enrich the work of the association.
Perfil: We are looking for young people with interest and motivation in cultural and leisure time activites, most of all with children and teenagers, but as well interested in the rest of the citizens and who think that they could contribute to the work of the association.
We are looking for young people with abilities in communication, social skills and are enthusiastic and creative. They should have a lot of proper initiative and values and ideals coresponding to European solidarity and identity.
In addition to that, we try to host volunteers from different countries in order to guarantee the intercultural exchange.
Moreover we appreciate the education and/or experience in cultural and free-time activities.
Finally we consider espacially the work of the sending organisation because we think that it is of great significance.
Age: 17-30
Tarefas: We would like to offer to the volunteers an experience of sociocultural animation by integrating them into the activities which already work in the leisure-time and culture association, for the citizens ; senior citizens, adults, teenagers and children. Due to the fact that the hosting organization has experience in the field of non-formal education, the activity is organized in a way which guarantees the learning process of the volunteers. They will participate in different activities under the supervision of the team and in addition to that, they will receive a following-up through periodic evaluation meetings, which evaluate the anticipated learning process.
The leisure-time and culture association wants to offer to the volunteers the opportunity to:
- Work as a team with other teenagers and experts of the center
- Learn two foreign languages: Castilian and Galician
- Learn to introduce innovative, well-planned sociocultural animation activities for children, teenagers and adults.
- Participate actively in the planning of the different activities
- Promote their country of origin among the users of the association
- Experience in work with children and teenagers
- Develop skills as a “camp leader” for children
- Know the working order of a play room, how to plan activities, how to develop and evaluate them
- Learn handicraft, games and dynamics for motivating the children and teenagers
- Propose and organize new activities for the center
- Know how a cyber-room for children and teenager works
- Develop abilities as a leader/trainer for activities with senior citizens: brain jogging…
- Learn how to plan and develop an intercultural encounter
- Learn how to plan, develop and evaluate activities for a camp for children and teenagers
- Develop skills as a camp leader for children and teenagers
- Learn how to be more patient, open and independent
- Know a new culture with all its aspects
- Learn about the importance of knowing other mentalities and other cultures for personal development
In particular, the tasks of the volunteers weill be to collaborate with the specialists of the center, the supervisors of the activites and the volunteers bringing in their iniciatives; without realizing functions as supervisor in neither of the said tasks:
• Collaborate with the specialists, supervisors and volunteers of the center in the planing, preparation and evaluation of the activities: designing of activities, preparation of the material, looking for resources…
• Collaborate en the tasks of upkeeping, animation and dynamisation of the play room, the library and the computer room, bringing in his / her initiatives and the resources of his / her own culture
• Collaborate in the realization of other activites in the center: workshops, dances, videos, excursions…, bringing in his / her personal iniciatives and the resources of his / her own culture
• Collaborate in the special activities of the center: Magosto (festival of the chestnut), Christmas, Carnival, special festivals and activities of the center, popular holidays…, bringing in his / her personal iniciatives and the resources of his / her own culture, for example by telling about how certain holidays are celebrated in their country or which type of traditions they have.
• Collaborate with other workers and Spanish volunteers in different activities of distribution of information about the Youth In Action Program: informative talks, workshops, distributing leaflets…
• Offering language help to potential Spanish volunteers who want to participate in the EVS
• Developping a personal project in accordance with his / her personal preferences, capacities and skills. As soon as the volunteers know the working process and the general dynamics of the center, feel at ease with the language and feel self-assured, they will elaborate their own project. They can count in any moment with the help and the coordination of the specialists and the rest of the volunteers in the center. These projects can go as far as to organise activities as theater plays, dances, intercultural exchange, cookery of their country, music, language….
The beneficial effects on the local community and the contact is guaranteed, provided that more than 85% of the activities in which they participate are directly related to the local community.
Horário: The general schedule of the volunteers will be from Monday to Friday or from Tuesday to Saturday, between 25 and 30 weekly working hours, depending on the hours of their linguistic training and the reunions of planing and evaluation of the different activities in which they take part. In addition to that, they have two free days per week, namely Saturday and Sunday, or Monday and Sunday, not taking into account the additional holidays of the center which coincide with their stay. An example for a schedule would be:
Monday to Friday:
16.30 – 20.30: Playing Room, Youth Club, Sports Activities, Youth Information Point, workshops and other activities
20.30-21.30: Personal Project and other activities
Saturday:
11.30 – 13.30: Playing Room, Library, Cyber Room, other activities of the center
16.30 – 20.30: Playing Room, Youth Club, Youth Information Point, other activities
In addition to this schedule, there wil be language training in the mornings which will vary according to the necessities of the volunteer and the reunions with the working team and the other voluntaries of the association.
