Resumo: The volunteer will live in a shared flat with local youngsters or other EVS volunteers. He/She will have to buy his/her own food and cook for him/herself. Cleaning rules might be established if necessary. The flat is destined only to the exclusive use of the volunteers. No visitors are allowed. The volunteer might have to share a room.
The volunteer's project will be hosted in the Centre. From the project, the workplace, to the volunteer's flat it's aproximately 30 min by foot and 15 min by bike. If the volunteer needs to use public transport to reach the activities of the project, transport costs will be covered by the organisation.

The Center and the Municipal Library are in the Center, where different culture asociations and departments are located, like for example the association of the elderly, women, the radio station of Radio, a computer room, etc. The Centre is located near the Observatorio, the sport center? and the schools. The Center consists of two rooms on the second floor of the building. In one room there are the smaller children, in the other one the youngster. On the third floor the Municipal Library is located. The library, the center and the youth department are cooperating in activities. The common space they share facilitates the sociobilisation of the children and the participation of the activities that are realized in the town are aimed at the integration of the children and youngsters.
Whenever the volunteers needs to use public transports, transport costs will be covered by the organization.
A bank account will be opened for the volunteer in the first week of the volunteer's arrival where the food and pocket money will be payed to.

The volunteer should be open to learn it.
Being a rural zone, there are some Spanish courses (intermediate and high level). The organization will facilitate the contact to young people interested in language exchange in any language.

Perfil: We require an active volunteer, dynamic, with communication skills, empathetic, assertive and open to know people from different cultures.

The main requirement is that you are motivated to learn and to take initiative.
We value positively the interest and expertise in leisure, education, culture and social work with youth and children.
Castilian preferably low-level means to integrate quickly and understand what to do.

Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The volunteer can participate in the meeting of the Centres. It'a a day of games and party that allows to get to know the other Centres from different cities from the area.

The volunteer can inscribe him/herself into any course organized by the youth department when it lies in his/her interest and it is connected to the activities in the project.

The library and the youth department can offer formation in documentation, research, digital resources, design and the elaboration of interactive and educational material on local and international cultures etc. Through the contact that the volunteer will establish with the workers, he/she can learn about the Catalan culture, the reality of the immigrants, their cultures, the people with educational and special necessities, the laws and norms of the foreign policy department of Spain and the Spanish society. The volunteer can participate in the different activities, workshops and talks of the sensibilisation, where he/she will learn about tecniques and pedagogical methods and will improve his/her social skills.

The volunteer will also participate in the language course (power course of Spanish during the first month and later normal formation (1-3 hours per week) depending on his/her necessities, Catalan classes starting the third month (if the volunteer is interested), Spanish language classes that the association offers to its users, the official language school or the centre of occupational formation, and/or language classes offered by the Centre.

The minimum of skills that the volunteer will develop during his EVS.
• Communication in the mother tongue:
• Communication with his sending organization before, during and after the project. Conflict resolution. Reports writing (final report, evaluations, …). Writing a CV and a motivation letter, before being translated into English or Spanish to contact the host organisations. If some users comes from the same country as her, she will have the opportunity to communicate with them in her/his own language. Analyze and compare her own language to Spanish and Catalan. Analyze and understand the reality of Catalonia and to compare with the reality of her home country or her home region.
• Communication in foreign languages:
• Oral and written communication Spanish and Catalan, through regular classes, but also in everyday life, in the house, with friends, fellow workers, other volunteers. Speaking publicly in front of his/her peers. Explain the reality of his/her country in another language. Learn about Spanish and Catalan culture and other cultures represented. Explain and resolve conflicts in another language.
• Mathematical competence and basic competences in science and technology:
• Conflict resolution; Learning manage activities and projects;
• Learn about logistic when planning activities.
• Digital Competence:
• Advanced use of office automation, graphic editing programs (creating presentations, reports, spreadsheets for financial management of projects, lists of participants to activities or dynamic presentations, photo editing for the website, etc.)
• Learning to learn:
• Develop self-esteem and assertive attitude to resolve conflicts involving themselves or among other people; Learn from the experiences of the community and different people met during the project and the community life in the house; Advanced Internet research; Ability to work in a team and individually; Organization of a personal project. Learn from users.
• Social and civic competences:
Knowledge of Spanish and Catalan culture, and of other cultures.
• Teach his/her own culture positively to different public.
• Learn to deal with groups in risk of exclusion (youth, immigrants, persons with disabilities, people with linguistic or social
integration problems, …); Accept and learn to live in a rural area; Know other ways of working; Ability to work in a team and individually; Learning to learn, defend, discuss and communicate social and political goals; Know the laws and standards of living, social work and other actual thematics in Spain; Learn pedagogy with difficult collectives; Learning solutions to eliminate prejudice and discrimination
• Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship:
Ability to work as a team and individually. Preparation, organization, implementation and evaluation of workshops, lectures, educational materials, studies and/or a personal project for the organization's users or the local community. Propose new methodologies, new workshops or activities
• Cultural awareness and expression:
Be creative in the preparation of new workshops, lectures, exhibitions and brochures; Present his/her culture, experience,
country, with or without multimedia help

The main task of the volunteers will be the attention to the youngsters, children through the support of the activities and programmed projects aimed at the promotion of education and the tutoring outside school, education of values of coexistence, tolerance and solidarity.He will also support the activities in the library and in the Youth Department.
The volunteers will offer support in the different activities yet they can also develop their own initiatives in personal projects. They can start a project depending on their interests with the help of his/her co-workers aiming at the promotion of reading, youth and child integration, etc.
The volunteer will have a supervision in the host organisation who will help him/her when necessary.

The volunteer's project will be divided in three sections inside the Centre.
Which are the tasks of the volunteer in the library?
- Helping the users according to their needs (formative, informative, research, educational, etc.)
- Helping the coordination of the youth section material in order to know the documental funds; book loan service
- Personal project: On wednesday mornings he/she will have the possibility to realize activities and develop his/her own personal project related to the three sections of his/her project (library, centre xirinxina and youth department)
- Helping the youngsters of the Xirinxina centre with their homeworks and the informaiton research in the library
- Helping in the setting of exhibitions, the book day and other cultural activities

Which are the volunteer's tasks in the Centre?
A. Hosting, lunch break and ludic activities: when the children arrive at the centre they eat. If there is a child who brought no food he/she will be offered some. The small children are in the playground from 17 to 17.45h, the bigger ones from 17 to 17.30h.
B. Tutoring from 17.30 to 18.30: the group will be divided in two groups according to their age (6-9 year olds and 10-12 year olds) with a maximum of 10 children per monitor. The small groups allow a more individual attention with the aim of answering the concrete needs of each child. The volunteer will help the children and youngsters with their homework.
C. Games and free time activities, workshops etc. when the children have done their homework: the activities' topic changes in a periodical cycle , for example: recicling, the cultures, peace, nature, etc. The volunteer will help with games and the activities and has the possibility to propose some that he/she knows.
One friday of every month, from 18.30 to 20h, there are activities for fathers and mothers who want to participate voluntarilly with their children. The activities are varied: cinema, sports, storytelling, music therapy, etc.
On wednesdays the smaller children go to the storytelling activity of the library, the bigger ones play football on thursdays.
D. Gathering of the material used and farewell: at 19.30 the material is gathered and organized altogether by all the children.

Afterwords the children and monitors gather to talk about the day and make proposals to improve.
Traditional festive days are celebrated (Castanada, Christmas, Carneval). Activities with these topics are established.

Which are the volunteer's tasks in the Youth Department?

(*)2,30h a week he/she will support the activities of the Youth Deparment. These hours can be concentrated in one day or divided into two days.The workdays at the Youth Department can change as it depends on the planning of the schools as the activities are destined to the youngsters of the town. The volunteer will be informed beforehand about his/her timetable.

Some examples of the activities realized by the volunteer in the Youth Department are: talks in schools, promoting actvities for youngsters, supporting the staff organizing basic courses of computing, etc. At the end of march a party of social integration for the youngsters is organized by the youth department leader whom the volunteer will assist.

During the whole year courses in the youth centre and the centre “L'Hort de Cruells” are organized. Some of them are introductional courses of computing for beginners. The volunteer will help with the promtion and the organization of the courses. If he/she has basic computing knowledge he/she can assist the professor.
