Resumo: We live in a small town but have all the necessary Danish facilities. Nature and sea are close by and it is easy to get around via train or buses which are connecting us to the rest of Denmark. We are a Christian school, which you will notice during our everyday life where we have devotion time. International projects are important to us and we have participated in different projects over the last years. Several teachers speak both English and German.

Near the school there is one of the best handball teams I Denmark, magnificent scenery with the national park and the opportunity for fishing in river, lake and sea. In our city it is also possible to access many types of sports, churches, scout and shops. Less than 45 minutes by train you can reach three cities where there are several great football teams, cinema, café life, kayaking, museums, hiking opportunities and plenty of shopping.

This is a type of school which is a special Danish phenomenon. We see ourselves as a mixture of a home, a school and a setting for young people. Most of our students come from well-functioning homes and at our school they find a place where they can grow and develop as people.

Perfil: Since a volunteer at the organization will be spending a lot of time with our students it is important that the volunteer loves being together with young people – and it would be appreciated if it could also be through sports or music. Furthermore it is important that the volunteer wants to be at the special type of school which a Danish school and is prepared to be at a Christian school.

We would prefer a volunteer who is:
• 20 years or older
• male
• good at speaking English (this will help the volunteer communicate with students)
• openminded and outgoing (which will help the volunteer connect to the students and make them feel welcome which is a core part of the volunteer’s job function
• fond of teaching young people sports or music togeher with other teachers. It would be great if you are so fond of sports or music that you are an inspiration to the students
• very good at one specific sports like e.g. football, volleyball, badminton or handball.
• flexible (teaching at a school does not always mean following a schedule – there will be plenty of weeks which are different – musicals, projects, visiting a European country, skiing etc.).
• Since our school is Christian it is important that you can see yourself in an environment like that but it is not necessary for you to share our opinions!
• Lastly, we are looking for someone who wouldn’t mind helping in the kitchen 1-2 days a week – making food and help cleaning dishes etc.

Tarefas: The role of the EVS-volunteer at the host organization
Be a part of the “boarding school” daily life – Helping with teaching and supervise young people at the age of 14-17 together with other teachers, help in the kitchen 1-2 days a week or otherwise at the school, depending on talents and interests. The main goal is to create an international atmosphere at the school - for the students to gain intercultural competences. It’s a must that you can speak good English.

Other possibilities depending on your interests:
- Attend different sports like volleyball, football, handball, badminton, gymnastics or swimming with students
- Participate in different music lessons or choir arrangements with students
- Help with computers, video making and the likes. We have just launched a microsoft/apple project.
- Help by taking part in evening duties at the school (supervision) together with another teacher.
- You will participate in different trips like skiing trips or visits in other European countries.
- If you have specific interests or talents we are open for whatever you are able to contribute with

The activities/tasks for the EVS-volunteer at the organization:
You will have to teach various subjects together with a Danish teacher. The subjects could be any sport, music, drama, English, German, cultural awareness, history, geography, social studies etc. – depending on your competences

Sport or music is in our opinion a good place to meet the students and therefore much of your time as a volunteer will be used to do sports or play music together with the students.

Once every week you will have an evening duty (supervision) with other teachers – eat dinner with the students, help students during their homework hour, take part in an evening activity (sport, music, games, pc etc.)

The schools are also open for students during weekends, which mean that you will take part in some weekend activities maximum once a month. During weekends students cook, relax, do sports, do leisure activities arranged by either students or teachers etc.

You will be assisting in the kitchen with the other employees together with the students who help in the kitchen (ex. 1-2 days a week)

Your work:
35 hours a week (teaching/ be together with the student + supervision Monday-Friday plus weekends once in a while). Some weeks it will be more than 35 hours a week some less. You will also get the possibility of learning Danish at a local language school. Language school is included in the 35 hours of work.
