Resumo: "We count with a multidisciplinary team of volunteers organised by themselves, accompanied by professionals, to maintain an educational aim and professionality in all activities in the third sector. This team will manage the contact with sending organisations to integrate volunteers in the hosting process. We will use new technologies to ensure quick communications and visual exchange with sending organisations (e-mail and skype). From their arrival, they will be in direct contact with our local volunteers, so they can guide them in their normal life (house, food, transport, benefits for young people,...).

We propose volunteering activities which raise awareness among the local community about national differences, youth participation at a European level, exchange of experiences regarding other cultures, support to young people with social difficulties which do not allow them to fully integrate in our society, empowering activities with most vulnerable groups of immigrants through courses, etc. We work in Galicia, in small urban areas and rural areas with no direct benefit from immigrant communities. Social and economic level varies. Some urban areas have basic needs such as food and clothes. These needs are more patent among people from Africa or South America.

Tarefas: """ We offer volunteers a young, dynamic environment with different levels of knowledge. Some volunteers know very well our activities, but there are new volunteers participating with us continuously. This way, no one feels that he/she knows less than all other people. We carry out team meetings once or twice a month to know the new volunteers and exchange our views about the aims achieved in our activities. The board of directors if formed by women with a lot of professional experience, concerned about the exchange of knowledge, non-discrimination due to lack of experience and tending to provide working opportunities to people interested in this field. We also give the chance of learning and practicing languages, like Galician, French (due to the large amount of French speaking people) or Wolof (mother tongue of Senegal).
"" Our premises are in the most multicultural area of A Coruña, where we carry out our social activities. Our office has space for: learning, resting, offices,... that members share.
"" Role of volunteers: form part of our team and make it stronger. We carry out dynamic activities, in constant contact with the local society, institutions, schools and other organisations and individuals with positive concerns. From the beginning, volunteers will be guided about the activities in which they will participate. They may also make suggestions and solve situations needing monitored decissions.
"" They may participate in awareness activities in schools about immigration, integration, anti-racism, anti-violence, development education and punctual activities, such as day against racism, day of the women, day of fare trade, etc. They may also participate teaching basic courses: reading, foreign languages, basic computers,... They may create activities involving other local or international activities if an educational aim is ensured, in order to exchange experiences, work together with other foreign communities, collaboration agreements with local entities regarding exchange of resources, new social integration projects, school support or support to families with one parents who may apply for it. Volunteers may participate in the following activities: art festivals (mixing art and social aspects, like the variety of cultures in our city area), development of new courses, with the team of teachers, new alliances with businesses with food excess and donate it to the NGO, organisation and distribution of the 1,800 kgs. of food we receive quarterly from the Food Bank, visit schools to talk about immigration and visit leisure premises (football stations, museums, rural sites of historic interest).

Horário: " Time of participation: 30 h/week (afternoons), including 10 h. training.

Condições: "The hosting project includes 1 volunteer. Conditions: Open person to new experiences and environments. With patience to see changing situations, able of overcoming obstacles in an objective way. Positive, organised person to ensure a nice working environment. Accommodation: in a flat shared with other volunteers in the city area they want. For this, they will be guided by the local volunteers (transport, prices,...). The coordinating organisation will give volunteers money for their food.
