Resumo: The project aims at encouraging participation of young people in society, by empowering them and by offering them spaces and the necessary support (information, contact with experts etc.). It offers young people the opportunity to get information and to voice their opinions, ideas, perspectives and needs, in a dialogue with other youngsters, experts and political representatives. The themes of the project are defined on the basis of the actual demand and needs of young people on previous activities and may therefore vary.

Within the project one volunteer will be working up to 10 months on the activity. The volunteer will be involved in the organisation of one Youth Convention and several activities of the Youth Parliament, two structures which are closely linked one to another, mainly by their goal: active involvement of young people in democratic life.
Youth Conventions are events that gather young people, mostly high school students, from all over Luxembourg in order to work and discuss on a specific key subject during one or even two whole days.
Traditionally the Youth Convention takes place in the National Parliament. Young people participate in 4 to 5 thematic workshops, led by experts of the concerned area. The workshops give the participants the opportunity to reflect, work and discuss on the chosen issue, with the above mentioned experts, other young people and members of the National or European Parliament.

Perfil: For our projects we would like to recruit independant young people, aged between 18 and 25 years, who are motivated to learn new languages, to develop new ideas and to work on a large variety of different subjects. The volunteer should be at ease in the contact with other young people and should be willing to do mainly organisational work at the office. Due to her/his work on a specific project, the volunteer should be open to flexible working hours.

Since the staff of the organization is a very small one, the volunteer will be required to develop his/her sense of initiative. He/She should be able to turn ideas into action and manage the different activities such as to achieve the set objective. Planning, organising, evaluating will be some of the competences the volunteer should acquire during the project. He/She should therefore be able to work as an individual or collaborately in a team.
Due to the linguistic situation in Luxembourg and regarding the kind of tasks the volunteer will be in charge of, he or she should have basic language skills in one of the official languages and be motivated to improve her or his language skills rapidly.
Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The volunteer will be an active part of the team. His or her tasks will include:
- Presence at all planning meetings, meeting reports;
- Participation in the detailed planning of the event (workshop subjects, experts, invitation to political
representatives, catering…);
- Promotion and presentation of the event and of the work of the participants in Youth Centers etc.;
- In some cases: managing the official internet forum;
- Managing the inscriptions of the participants (detailed listing, badges, participation certificates);
- Regular contacts with the project partners, experts and moderators;
- Public relations (Press release, information folder for the press…);
- Preparation of the event (goodie bags, workshop materials, set up…);
- Presence on the days of the events themselves (presence, reception, frame experts and youngsters…);
- Project documentation (photos, interviews, film…);
- Contribution to the organization and the Youth Parliament website: EVS column; articles; research documents
etc
- Development and coordination of the official newsletters of the two activities;
- Writing articles
- Active involvement in the follow up of the results and the lobbying process
As described above a lot of tasks are organizational ones, on which the volunteer will be, in a second phase, working on mostly independently in the office of the organization. Most of the work is done in French and/or German, so that it is important for the volunteer to be a fluent user in at least one of these two languages. The volunteer will receive his/her tasks from the project officer responsible for the Youth Conventions activity, who will be framing the young person throughout the putting into practise of his/her mission. Another project officer and a secretary are present to give the youngster additional support..
