Resumo: The host organization is one of the organizations that works and participates in the Center. The center is located in the neighborhood that gives its name to the Center. This neighborhood is located on the outskirts of the city of one of the areas of greatest population has grown in recent years. There are lots of young people in this neighborhood because of the University and University Hospital are around.
The city is currently a notable economic and cultural center at a regional and a major communications hub with its international port and airport.
For about ten years we worked together with some other organizations for the integration of marginal families, which came to live in this neighborhood, which resulted in rejection and conflict between neighbors.
On the other hand, we have a large number of young people who come from different parts of the city and even from province to participate in activities what are organized by our association, especially the Info-Europe program, which employs two persons who are responsible for that , they are responsible for information and advice on all proposed international activities that exist for the youth group and especially informed about the Youth in Action Program and other programs and scholarships published from time to time.
In general, in the Youth Program we have participated in other actions very successfully and we want to acknowledge the importance for the development of the activities of our association. It has had this program, especially for international and intercultural dimension what gives added value to local activities that we develop.
Perfil: We don’t require a lot from the volunteers we are hosting, only simple things: the volunteer needs to be highly motivated and eager in working in our organization, who knows what voluntary means and who have iniative and creativity.
We believe it is particularly important to facilitate their integration in our community the volunteer should have at least basic knowledge of Spanish, that (s)he has been involved in its country of origin in associations or voluntary activities and who is a open-minded person with aptitude to adapt to new situations.
About the Hosting Organization, we also would like it to be Sending Organization, as we do, because in that way they would have a wider and complete view of European Voluntary Service.
We are already experiences in hosting volunteers with special characteristcs, specially with these ones who had a socio-familiar situation. It was a very enriching experience, spite of the big effort it means, but we want to keep hosting volunteer with special needs.
Our organization has a team of trained professionals to assist young people with special needs especially social, familial, geographic, therefore and we could give them opportunity to get a short or medium term project.
Tarefas: Our organization will offer to the volunteer all the trainning and information required for the entire period, from the preparatory stage, during the reception and later for evaluation and return to his/her country of origin. (S)he will be trained for the need activities to develop, and for the language, what will help their integration into the local community. We will make supervision and support them to reach the general aims of the program aswell as the ones of our project.
Role of the volunteers.
The volunteers we will host always will have a role of support in the activities directly developed by the profesionals of the organization, so they woun’t have direct responsability in the activities, just help and support. It is expected that the volunteers to have place for developing their own iniciatives and also to take part and to be listened about their ideas in the decisions of the daily activities in the organization.
Proposed activities for the EVS volunteers.
We consideer that hosting volunteers can provide us with a very rich experience, because we can provide to our local activities an international dimension and this works as a reference for other youngsters we work with.
The volunteers are integrated as support of the main activities in our asociation, so they will cooperate with:
• Info-Europa, where the volunteer will support the activities of information about different existing european programs, especially Youth in Action, other programs and activities in local and international areal. Info-Europa, is present in several municipalities, but also we develop it in our main office in the Sociocultural Center. The main tasks of the volunteer will be: attending speeches in the different municipalities, inform to youngsters, motivate the youths from the city to participate in intercultural and international activities, awareness and promotion of the youth participation, especially these ones with fewer opportunities, etc. All these activities will be done under coordination and support of the responsible people of Info-Europa, so the volunteers wont have any management and trainning responsibility among the Info-Europa projects and actions.
• Education to the development and Intercultural activities. Our organization every year starts intercultural activities and we work with other organizations in Education to the development programs and International Cooperation. Some examples are the program ELYCE, workshops of International gastronomy, seminars, etc., where the volunteers also will be able to participate and support the organization of them.
• Support the activities made by the Center, as Informatic lessons, handycraft workshop, recicling, etc.
• We like that the hosting volunteers have own iniciative and put in place activities by themselves, giving them the opportunity to develop their own iniciative and contribute their personal and professional growing and the intercultural development of the local activities.
We enclose a weekly schdule, where changes can happen according to the activities of that moment, preferences of the volunteers, experience or Spanish skills and season of the year, etc., they are able to change something.
