Resumo: "The project environment takes place at the Dutch Cultural field, working activities will mainly take place in Amsterdam. The office of Trans Artists is located in Smart Project Space, a cultural institution in Amsterdam. Smart Project Space and the office of Trans Artists are both very friendly and inspirational work environments.
http://www.transartists.nl/about/contact.html

The volunteer will be accompanied and supported by a small and friendly team of eight colleagues at Trans Artists.
The team is international and most team members are artists and/or trained as curator/cultural worker. They all combine their artistic practice with their job at Trans Artists.

The volunteer will be asked to go to Dutch classes. As we would like to stimulate the volunteer to learn the Dutch language. The Dutch classes are taught at the Volks Universiteit Amsterdam.

The team operates following a ""horizontal"" approach in which team members work together on different projects. The team members initiate projects, organize these initiated projects from beginning to end which results in a strong commitment and responsibility. To the team it brings additional knowledge and experience to each individual expertise. Working as a team creates an interesting experience for volunteers who are trained in more hierarchic working environments.

The volunteer will have the opportunity to learn from and assist the different team members as well as initiating a personal project, developed during the volunteering period and in close collaboration with the rest of the team. This way we make sure the volunteer comes across various learning skills like: language and conversation, social, engagement, confidence as well as more hands on skills like: web editing, organizational, planning, communication skills etc.

Yasmine Ostendorf , project coordinator of On-Air will be available for all questions and close guidance, she will be the personal mentor for the volunteer on daily basis. They will together make a planning for the activities in the project, but she is also available for practical questions concerning living in Amsterdam for instance. The whole Trans Artists team is very helpful, happy to welcome the volunteer and willing to contribute to making it a pleasant and safe experience.

Next to the office and organizational experiences the project environment includes networking opportunities. The volunteer will be invited to join to Trans Artists workshops in the Netherlands (not only Amsterdam) , seminars and meetings with the Dutch residency/cultural field

The building itself is located in a very nice part of Amsterdam. The office is close to the Ten Kate market and the Vondelpark. It is easily reached by public transport and 5 minutes from the city centre by bike. As cycling is very common in Amsterdam, we will offer the volunteer a bicycle during the stay.

The volunteer will be welcomed in a very open and sociable environment and invited to attend also non formal learning experiences such as gallery-openings, film screenings and dinner parties.

Perfil: "In general Trans Artists is open to welcome volunteers from all over Europe interested in cultural and artistic colloborations. We welcome candidates with a special interest in international mobility issues. The experience we offer is practical, has a strong content side, and offers networking opportunities from which the volunteer could benefit in future jobs. Trans Artists is interested in volunteers who want to develop their knowledge and skills as part of a small, flexible team and write and speak basic English.
We are looking for a very enthusiastic and bright volunteer that will match the Trans Artists (team) spirit.
Trans Artists is open for any suggestions and requests by persons and/or organisations who think Trans Artists could provide them with the content and environment for their knowledge building. We would look into the background and motivation and are keen on working on this process with EVS.

Tarefas: "The volunteer is invited to experience working in the daily reality of a cultural organization, founded and strongly based in The Netherlands and which has an European context as well as a strong connection to the Dutch cultural field. We would like to offer the volunteer the experience of working in an organization with a targetgroup of international operating artists and cultural organizations in Europe and especially the Netherlands.
The volunteer will work for a period with each staff members at Trans Artists, as all our staff members have different tasks, skills and focus areas. We find it very important that the volunteer experiences the different aspects that a cultural organization encounters on a daily base.
Therefore we would like to learn the volunteer about how we work at Trans Artists. Two examples:
An interesting experience will be to learn more about AiR Platform NL. This platform unites 77 organisations in the Netherlands that offer a diverse range of residence opportunities to artists. It provides a good insight knowledge on how the field is structured in the Netherlands. The volunteer will be working with the coordinator of the Platform NL. Example: Go to Kunsthuis Syb in Beesterszwaag to discuss the plans for the annual gueststudio meeting. The volunteer will write a report about the meeting and helps the coordinator in preparing this meeting.
Trans Artists is currently working on the development of a new website. The website is a very important tool for Trans Artists, it contains the database of residencies. Example: The volunteer will have to investigate the residencies and gueststudio's in the Netherlands. Call them to check if the information is up to date, or find out about new initiatives.
Trans Artists is an important tool for the mobility of Dutch and foreign artists and internationally recognized and appreciated for this. Volunteering for Trans Artists is a great opportunity to follow the content and organizational side the organization with all the needed guidance, space and time to develop the volunteer's talents and potential.
The volunteer will be active for 36 hours per week divided between Monday-Friday.
During this time Trans Artists expects an own initiatives from the volunteer to realize in the Netherlands. The idea should match the profile of the project and our organization.
Trans Artists will make sure the volunteer to participate in the trainings (arrival and mid-term) that Youth in Action offers.
