Resumo: Outline the project environment for the suggested voluntary Service, including the local community where the project will take place (e.g. geographical, social and economical environment). If the host placement is located in a live-in community, please include the rules and conditions that apply also for the volunteer.
The organization is located in a city has about 70,000 inhabitants and is one of the most culturally active city centres in the province. Its importance is due to its history, its monuments, including the Romanesque cathedral, which dates back to the XIII century, Its area within the National Park and its archaeological finds including man fossils dating back to 200,000 years ago and nearly 30,000 dinosaur footprints.
The tourism coming from this geographical position, enriches the city and contributes to the development of its economy joining the main economic activities: agriculture and breeding, food products export and sofa industry. An important aspect of the city is represented by a significant number (about 3.000) of non-EU citizens from Albania, Tunisia, Romania, Poland and Ukraine. The city has a strong presence of young people and many informal groups and youth organizations engaged in cultural and sports activities.
The volunteers will be accommodated in a full-furbished independent flat, located in the centre of the city and close to place of activities. They will be receiving the pocket money, foreseen by the Programme, every month and the food money every week. For short-term volunteers also the pocket money will be paid weekly. The volunteers will gain autonomy, will learn how to manage their own budget and, by sharing the flat, will get acquainted the basic rules of living together. By participating in the project, they will get to know the Italian culture and traditions and those of the hosting community.
Perfil: The project welcomes any young person who is interested in living an intercultural and learning experience through our program. There is no limitation and no restriction in terms of previous experience or specific skills. The only requirement to participate will be the real interest of candidates. The participation of young people with fewer opportunities will be encouraged.
Whenever the project will be available, the organization will open a call for volunteers that will be announced through different tools, mainly web based. The organization belongs to several informal and formal networks and the vacancies will be published on several websites and virtual communities such as youthnetworks.eu and other similar platforms. Moreover we will give visibility to the call through our website and informing our main partners by email. Once the CVs will be collected, the selection will be done on the basis of the interest of the candidate and the matching of his/her profile with the project. The motivation letter will play a crucial role in this process. After a pre-selection, the organization will interview the candidates through phone calls and may ask for clarifications or supporting documents. The selection will be done in close cooperation with the sending organizations.
There is no preference and no pre-agreement with sending organization and we are open to cooperate with any SO because the only criteria for the selection will be the motivation of the volunteer and the reciprocal interest in working together in a voluntary program.
Age:17-30
Tarefas: The volunteers will be supported while learning the Italian language by attending an Italian language course organised by the association and by interacting with the local community both during the activities and informal time. The volunteers will participate in training meetings to prepare themselves for the activities; they will have the opportunity to live a strong intercultural experience by being with other long and short term volunteers coming from different countries; they will develop their skills and gain or improve competences concerning the use of technological devices. The implementation of the activities, made in contact with young people, will allow them to improve their interpersonal and organizational skills. Hosting European volunteers is an example, for the local youth and people, of the intercultural exchange potential and of how we can concretely contribute to spread European values through ideas and active participation.
The volunteers will be part of the staff and will help the association in different activities related to the world of media, information, volunteering promotion, projects and local initiatives implementation. They will receive tools and support needed to develop one or more personal projects that fit the organization's aims and their attitudes, bringing an added value inside the association and the hosting community. The volunteers will be supported by a tutor through the whole project who will assist them during the activities. The organization will also identify a mentor, outside the organizational environment, who will support volunteers on a personal level, particularly for solving problems and conflicts, and who will help them to integrate in the local community. All the volunteers will participate to planning meetings and to evaluation meetings every week to set together activities and to evaluate the learning process and the integration in the organization and in the local community.
