Resumo: "Environment of host project

The small city Rudolstadt (ca. 24000 inhabitants) is situated in the Free State of Thuringia and has a 1230 year old history. The city is very quite and rural. The frotress ""Heidecksburg"" is situated far above the main town and viewable from all over the city. You also find old halftimberd houses what gives this city a certain charme. Rudolstadt is located very close to the nature on the river Saale and close to the Thuringian forrest and east Thuringian Heath. It is a starting point for many tourists.
The city has a wide offer on businesses like chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, electronical industry and constructional steelwork. But you also find many small service businesses.
The town and its surroundings also offer different possibilities for recreation e.g. the adventure swimming pool, cinema, museum. rope courses (cultural centre), community college as well as offers like bars and pubs. Here you find also wide-area happenings. The most important is the dance and folk festival (Tff) with almost 70000 participants. All points of interest (farm houses, Schiller house) are easy to access by foot. Also a walk through the Heinrich-Heine-park close to the river Saale is to recomend.
For friend of nature the sourroundings of Rudolstadt offers a big Walking and biking area in the ""Green Heart of Germany"".
The federal state capital (Erfurt) is 50 km away and can be reached in 50 mins by train. The university town of Jena is easy to reach by bus or train (30 mins by train) from Rudolstadt and is well worth a visit. Also the cultur historic interesting city Weimar is accessible within one hour.

Perfil: "Age: 18-25 years, German language skills we focus especially disadvantaged people. - For voluntary service in the youth guest house and family centre Rudolstadt the following personality is necessary: friendly and open, committed, flexible, punctual, independent, reliable, resilient, and able to work in a team and with conflict.
Creative skills and artistic talent would be advantageous for working in the Fröbelhaus. The gift of creative design, sing or playing an instrument will be appreciated.
The volunteer should enjoy working with children and young people but also with adults.
Reliability, punctuality, tidiness in terms of work are taken for granted.We expect the volunteer to be willing to work flexible hours which arise from work in the youth guest house.
Knowledge of German should be good enough for the volunteer to survive in everyday situations and interest in improving their knowledge should of course be great. Basic knowledge of the English or other languages would be helpful.
Computer knowledge an a portion of organisational capacities complete our requirements.
The most important condition from our side is, that the volunteer has a consciousness of his/her own responsibilty to make the voluntary service to become a success. He / she should understand and form the great chance and challenge for his/ her personal development

Tarefas: "Service and learning opportunities
Because of the diversity of the tasks and offers of the ""Fröbelhaus"" volunteers can contribute their personal interests, develop their knowledge and skills.They get to know the function and the general timetable of three different projects under one roof. They can experience how the different offers complete and encourage each other.
The main activities in the project ""send messages - Fröbelhaus Rudolstadt""are development, implementation and evaluation of modules. Those offers e.g. creative activities, feasts, country workshops, project days about topics like European consciousness, EU, tolerance, human rights, the stay in a foreign country etc will be realised project overarching. The aim is to send messages to people on the local level and to receive messages
With that the volunteers have the possibility to create own projects, workshops or international activities. They will be supported by the colleagues. The volunteers cooperate with three other host projects in the Rudolstadt region (Fröbelhaus Rudolstadt, Freie Fröbelschule Cumbach, Wohnheim der Fröbelschule Keilhau). So we can use the competences of the volunteers in the most effective way and many projects will benefit. The learning results can be improved by cooperation with other projects.
We offer several internal education offers: project management, methods of intercultural learning, didactics of non-formal education etc. The volunteers can acquire key qualification which are going to help them in their future live To that we count:
- strategical capacities e.g. organisational, problem solving skill, coherent thinking, decision making
- social capacities e.g. team work, communication, cooperation skills, empathy, tolerance
- individual capacities e.g. role distance, willingness to learn, creativity, resilience
- professional capacities e.g. knowledge about children and youth leisure time work, methods and didactics non-formal education, pedagogic of the kindergarten inventor Friedrich Fröbel

Tasks and activities of volunteers
Workin fields in Fröbelhaus Rudolstadt are: intercultural education, family centre, youth hostel. We offer the following service and learning opportunities:
Intercultural education: gives opportunities to the volunteer to strengthen the capacity of acting and opens new horizons. The volunteers clarify their cultural socialisation live circumstances. They learn to reflect the own point of view critical. Contact to other cultures gives the chance to develop curiosity, openness and understanding for other characteristics or to receive knowledge about other cultures.
Youth hostel: the volunteer helps to take care for international and national visitors and seminar groups. They help developing, organising and realising the frame programme for the guests. The volunteer can integrate the view of a foreigner in our planning. This is extremely valuable for us. It would be nice if the volunteers could develop programme modules by themselves after a certain induction phase (e.g. country workshops, international food fests, language animation).
Family centre: volunteers can develop offers and programmes for families, children or integrating offers. In a induction phase the volunteer will build an overview about existing offers and assist project managers during working. According to the interests of the volunteers they can develop and realise once or regular programmes (e.g. creative offers, common evenings with families about characteristics for the country, culinary or political topics. Also in the daily run they can assist (e.g. planning and evaluation of offers, decoration of rooms for certain activities or support during happenings.

Role of the volunteer
The Fröbelhaus is able to offer additional offers with the volunteers which increase the attraction of the house. Our modules for intercultural education gain authenticity if volunteers from other countries fill it with content. Project overarching activities deepen the contacts between the host projects and new innovative offers arise. Volunteers are additional helper and extremely important.
The decision about the actual tasks we agree with the volunteers after a 6 week induction phase. This phase is necessary to understand the tasks and the possibilities of the different working fields . The task will change from volunteer to volunteer.
The weekly working time is usually 35 hours (including language course time). Leisure time is not always on weekends since the projects main working time is the weekend.
Volunteers holiday will be planned together and we mainly consider the wishes of the volunteers. Volunteers get 2 days holiday per month. Overtime will be balanced in accordance with the manager of the project.
The volunteers live in a living community other volunteers. Kittchen and bath room will be used in common. The flat is equipped with the necessary furnitures and the usual white goods. Towels and bed clothes will be provided by us. Volunteers are responsible for cleaning the flat.
Boarding costs will be given to the volunteer. Despite of that there is the possibility to get food in the canteen of the youth hostel. We are contracting a private teacher for language courses.
For questions and problems all colleagues and especially the mentor will assist..
