Resumo: "Our kindergarten is situated in the centre of Nordhausen, opposite to the small river ""Zorge"". Behind our kindergarten is a 2700 m2 large garden, where the children can play, climb, swing, balance, etc.. A lot of our children need this physical activities to compensate their deficits. Furthermore we have a sport room, a relaxing room, a room for language training, a creativity room and a music and rhythm room. Our house is also designed to fit the needs of our disabled children.
2007 we have been rewarded with the certification as a movement friendly kindergarten. In 2008 we reached the third place in a commitment with other movement friendly kindergartens in Thuringia.
As mentioned before the children are divided into 4 groups, where they have a well structured daily routine. This daily routine is characterized by fixed mealtimes and also fixed playtimes, this is easy to understand and very important for our children, especially for the handicapped. Everyday we offer special workshops to our children, e.g. music-, sport-, language- or creative workshop, within the 4 groups but also in mixed groups. Outside activities are particularly loved by our children, therefore we give them everyday the possibility to go outside to our large garden to have a good romp.
Every handicapped child which comes to our kindergarten gets an individual plan where we write down all its special needs and therapies. Furthermore we have a team of psychotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and physiotherapists which offers a special support to our handicapped children. Once a week we take them to the riding and swimming therapy, which they like best.
Another part of our kindergarten concept is to prepare the children for the school. During their last year before they start school we additionally start for example with a special language training, which shall prevent dyslexia. Furthermore all our children take part once a week in a sports lesson outside of our kindergarten.
To cooperate with the parents is another important aspect of our daily work. This part is not easy to handle, because a lot of the parents live in difficult social conditions, without any structured daily routine. We always try to motivate them to be more interested in the (kindergarten) life of their children.

Perfil: "Age: 18-25 years, German language skills we focus especially on disadvantaged people. - The volunteers which we would like to host in our kindergarten should love children as much as we do.
To have a basic knowledge in pedagogic could be advantageous (this is not essential!). The volunteers should have the willingness to go into the problems and the specific character of the handicapped children.
They should be patient, responsible, open minded, creative, motivated, able to work in a team and they should have the ability to respond to the children.
It would be very nice if the volunteers are interested in music or sport.
Furthermore it would be an advantage if they would have a basic German knowledge, this will make the communication with the children much easier.
Our vacancies are published at Youthnetworks. Basically we answer all incoming requests if there is a serious interest noticable. In case the minimum standard can not be fulfilled (basic knowledge of german language, furthermore ""acceptable"" age of volunteers), we inform the volunteers/ their delegation organisation about the reasons for their rejection.
We will send our application form to all applicants achieving the standards. The application form is needed to visualise necessary information about the volunteer's motivation and responsibility. Incoming applications will be evaluated if meeting our expectations and candidates are in line with our team. We try to create a balanced but mixed team regarding gender and nationality. The applications will be transfered to the hosting project. The personnel of the hosting project decides to take up the volunteer or not and inform the sending organisation about the decision.
Basically we are open to all sending organisations.

Tarefas: "The young volunteers will be integrated in all daily activities regarding to their interests and their potentialities. Our children and all of the staff members are very outgoing, so it will be easy for the volunteer to get an interesting insight into the social and cultural life of our children and to find friends among the team. At the beginning the volunteers will work close together with the kindergarten teachers to get to know the different areas of our kindergarten. Later, the volunteers will work more and more independent.
The volunteers will learn everything about the different handicaps of our children and how to handle these handicaps. They will learn how to support the children right after their individual plan.Furthermore the young volunteers have to accompany the disabled children to their therapies. We hope and wish that the volunteers will participate in the daily life of our kindergarten especially by realizing own projects and ideas.Beside this own projects we will give them an interesting insight into the pedagogic of Maria Montessori and its special materials. The young volunteers will be involved in the preparation and realization of special events, like parent-teacher meetings, seasonal parties, grandmother & grandfather day, open days, etc. They will also take part in all internal meetings and trainings to enrich their knowledge about the work with children. The volunteers have to work 35h a week including the language course. The working hours have to be accommodated to the opening hours.
