Resumo: The host organization is the key youth work agency in the organization and works to deliver generic and explicit youth work programmes and activities that best meet the needs of young people and the adults who support them. The Service is an energetic and contemporary youth organisation constantly striving to meet the needs of the ever changing youth population. We are a unique service in that we are locally managed and can respond quickly to local need.
The organisational headquarters are based in Letterkenny and the service extends throughout the organization with 33 affiliated Youth Clubs countywide and a range of projects that provide programmes and training to over 5000 young people and over 600 adult volunteers. We also manage the ‘Daybreak' Early School Leavers Project, Youth Information Centre, Planet Youth Project in Ballybofey; Cross Border Connections Peace III funded project and co-manage the LOFT Youth Health Café project. The Service was awarded the tender for the co-ordination of the organization in February 2013.
The EVS volunteer will work as an assistant project officer with the organization, which is a group of 36 young people aged 12-18 years, who identify issues and promote projects to improve the lives of young people.
The organization is a group of 36 young people aged 12-18 years, who identify issues and promote projects to improve the lives of young people. Like the County Council they are selected from five electoral areas and represent the young people in our schools and local areas. The organizationaim to represent the views and opinions of the Youth, by building and strengthening links with people and ogranisations that impact all of our lives. Everthing they do is in the interest of Young People. The Youth Council has regular meetings with elected representatives both at local and national level where they can lobby and advise on youth related issues. They also have a member who represents the Youth Council on the Comhairle na nOg National Executive.
Perfil: Applicants would ideally have experience with working with young people aged 12-18. An interested in youth activism and youth participation would also be beneficial. Experience in aspects of multimedia would also be welcomed.
Age: 17-30 years old
Tarefas: • Assist the Co-ordinator in the planning and facilitation of the host organization meetings
• Assist Youth Councillors to identify issues and agree work programmes
• Help organise consultation opportunities between the organization members and young people aged 12-18 on issues relevant to young people and work of the organization
• Help facilitate and organise the organization elections and other AGM days, events and seminars • Assist in the delivery of training for the organization members
• Assist the Co-ordinator in the planning and deliver of the organization residentials and other trips
• Help further develop the presence of the organization on social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter
• Assist in the production of other media and PR for newspapers, radio and other in house media newsletters and leaflets
• Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the organization meetings, trainings and other activities
• Other office administration duties as required
