Resumo: The hosting organization was established as an initiative of a group of parents of persons with mental disabilities, who initially searched for adequate schooling of their children. As sooon as this training period finnished, they focused on achieving their insertion on the regular labour market or with support of special employment centers.

Those were the first steps of the association, which in 1970 was declared a public utility organization and has currently a wide range of centers which offer multiple services and can attend to more than 1.000 users.

The hosting organization generates more than 51% of funding for maintanance cost of their services and centers.

The mission of the hosting organization is to improve the quality of life of people with mental disability and their families, to make a special effort so that every one of them achieves the highest possible level of personal autonomy and to make social integration and the recognition of this target group by the citizens possible.

Other fundamental idea present in the philosophy of the organization is to try to increase awareness of the society and the public authorities on the issue of mental disability.

In order to achieve our aims, the organization carries out different programmes, such as: Selfmanagement, PCPI, Ageing, Prisoners and ex prisoners and also VOLUNTEERING.

The main work areas are: education, day care, training, employment, housing, leisure. The last area is where European volunteers mainly carry out their activities.

Perfil: Any young person between the ages 18 and 30, who is ready to devote their free time in the benefit of the persons with mental disabilities in an altruist way and whose physical and mental condition is compatible with project duties; i.e. a person with no mobility problems and motivated enough (sometimes, the project activities can seem routine), flexible, able to motivate a person with mental disability to participate in the activity. Moreover, the volunteer should be ready to live in a shared room with other european volunteer.

Due to project characteristics and on the basis of the experience of our previous volunteers, the perfect candidate for this project should have at least the basic level of Spanish- because the project is too short to allow volunteers with absolutely NO knowledge of Spanish to learn enough to carry out project tasks satisfactorily, bearing in mind the language support that we can offer as a coordinating organization. We have learnt with experience that a too long adaptation period and too easy project tasks for a long period of time, can demotivate young volunteers strongly. Our intention is to host volunteers with different language levels, so that they can help each other and the person with a higher level of Spanish can be in charge of the group of volunteers and represent them at the organization.

Tarefas: Volunteers will accompany the users during different free time daily activities scheduled by the center, like: zumba, Internet, games, regional dances, cooking workshop, karaoke, sports activities, gymnastics, hand crafts, theatre.

Moreover, volunteers will help to organize special activities like Winter Festival, San Valentine's Day, Holiday Programme, Summer Camps, weekend activities in a hostel, sports events, festivals to celebrate municipality Day, seminars and trainings about volunteering, as well as other occasional events, which are carried out by the organization in collaboration with other organizations or training centers allowing volunteers' personal and professional development in a wider area of activities.

All of the mentioned activities allow volunteers to contribute with their experience, ideas and creativity.

Volunteers will be also involved in activities to promote "Youth in Action and EVS" and will have the opportunity to propose initiatives and project ideas in the area of promotion of Youth in Action and European awareness and topics concerning Europe among youth and youth workers in educative centers.

Volunteer's daily activities will take place from Monday to Friday in the afternoon between 16.00 and 21.00. Moreover, during two days a week in the morning from 10.00 to 13.00 volunteers will spend their time to prepare activities to promote Youth in Action Programme and other visibility increasing tools (like blog, designing information campaigns) Volunteers will also collaborate to carry out occasional activities, which may take place on weekends or working days in the morning between 10.00 and 13.00 (only if they do not collide with language training activities, which will take place in the mornings from 14.00 to 16.00).

The tasks of the volunteer might be:

Planning, carrying out and evaluation of the activities in which they participate (proposals, suggestions and initiatives of the volunteer will be taken into account).
Participation in working groups with other local volunteers, making of the materials, searching for resources.
Helping to design and carry out information campaigns about Youth in Action (designing and distribution of leaflets, organizing calendar of events, designing promo material, PP presentations).
Updating the blog to promote EVS and the website of the coordinating organization (collecting and selection of information, participative activities, updating the news).

Personal Project to be carried out with support of the organization or other centers, which collaborate with them
