Resumo: The volunteer will work in the Youth Center, which since its opening is a center of youth attraction in the municipality. The town is known not only because of it’s old and honorable history, but also young people living there (demographicaly we are one of the youngest municipalities of Lithuania). Even though there are approximately only 5 thousand inhabitants in the town, supply of activities for youngsters is sometimes even biger than in a big city. It is very comfortable to reach it by bus (50 minutes). Youth Centre is open from Tuesday till Saturday from 2 PM to 9 PM. Sunday and Monday – closed.

The city has a big variety of natural and cultural heritage and exceptional landscapes. It’s is one of the oldest and most interesting small towns in Lithuania. Most of the local people in the city speak only Lithuanian language or also a bit Russian, younger people mostly are able to speak English.
There are about 900 young people (age 14 – 29) living in the city. Moreover, there is a gymnasium, art school, culture center, library, social services centre, youth non-governmental organisations, higher school (college), museum, business information center, even businessmen and politicians, who cooperate with us in a youth work.
Accommodation for volunteers will be organised in students dormitory of the college, which is 200 meters away from Youth Center.

Perfil: We would host a volunteer which would like to work in the open youth center and who would be motivated to work with young people (age 14-29 years). Initiative, creativity, enthusiasm, open-mindness, responsibility, tolerance and understanding - these are the characteristics of volunteer we would like to host. Priority would be given for volunteers with some youth work experience (a part of Youth Center, member of some youth organisation, simply being active and initiative, etc.). By choosing a volunteer we will give equal opportunity to all candidates regardless of race, ethnicity or gender. We would prefer to have a Youth Center as a Sending Organization, but it’s not necessary condition.

Tarefas: There are a lot of different activities in which volunteer could be involved. The areas of activities in a youth center are very wide. We are going to adapt volunteers work to his own willing, abilities and interests. Working in team and with youngsters in various fields, the volunteer will improve her/his teamwork, communication, social and personal skills. During her/his EVS the volunteer will learn to share responsibilities, plan time, solve problems and break down barriers. Also she/he will get know our country’s culture, language and will learn how to deal with that.

Main roles of the volunteer in our organisation activities will be:
- participate in the daily activities of the Youth Center (helping with small tasks like registering visitors, tidying up after opening hours, managing information board, preparing room before Youth Center Voluteers Club meeting every Wednesday, movie evening every second Saturday, looking after table games, etc);
- help to plan and organize youth free time activities (workshops, events, trainings, outdoor activities, trips, sport tournaments, organized together with workers and youngsters) and participate in them;
- help to organize other events, public actions, other happenings in the town, also organised by other organisations together with us;
- take part in meetings with mentor, reflections, seminars, language course, plan her/his own time;
- represent her/his own country and culture.

Next to yhe main roles there are several specific areas of activities volunteer could work on (depending on her/his own abilities and wishes) one/two times per week:
- Media (creating advertisement for youth center events: adverts, articles, short movies, videos, leaflets etc. realize his creativity and ideas by doing this);
- Art (initiate artistic workshop: music, dances, drawing, theatre, photography etc. especially related with her/his culture);
- Sports (casual or untraditional sport activities);
- Language (teaching local youngsters her/his language);
- Other ideas (we are open to all volunteer’s ideas/proposals and she/he will get our full support for realizing them).
