Resumo: Our association is situated in the centre of the city where all our activities take place. It is situated at the foot of mount Terminillo, an important reference point for winter sports. The whole territory offers extraordinary nature with plenty of green, the river surrounded by beautiful landscape, and with a bicycle lane that crosses the local countryside. The valley is set also hosts the famous four sanctuaries of St. Francis. Even the surroundings are very attractive, offering mountains, hills and lakes with relative sports activities.

All the structures where our services are carried out are situated in the historic center of the city just a few minutes walk away from each other. In general this small town is a people-friendly town, where the distances can be covered on foot. This will make it easy for the volunteers to move around. The town offers several possible leisure activities such as the cinema, theater, art-cafè and some disco-pubs.

In the province the rate of foreigners is about 7% and the rate of unemployment is about 8%.The majority of jobs are settled in agriculture, commerce and construction whereas most of the women are employed in the services sector, elderly people assistance and education. With the evolution of the recent crisis many factories and industries have been shut down, as well as many small-medium sized companies, that weren't able to cope with the current financial pressure. Currently the third sector (specially the social services) offers an important employment possibility.

In short, our services have lately had an increasing request, creating the necessity of different strategies to face the demand of people in social-economic risk. We think that the European Voluntary Service could be an important part of those strategies and would also be a good opportunity for the young people that want to volunteer in our province to learn new skills, get in touch with different cultures and participate actively and directly in the construction of individual integration process of each person we assist.
This is the link to see the video we did with the volunteers that participated in our project in 2012.

Perfil: The project is open to every young person who has a special interest and sensibility to work with big social issues and could bring new energy and enthusiasm to our organisation. We are looking for motivated young people who want to carry out their EVS experience in a multicultural environment, are prepared to face and manage problems related to cultural differences and who want to deepen topics related to poverty, migration and political asylum.
Age: 17-30
Boy

Tarefas: International protection support: The staff of the project will provide training regarding the Italian reception system for asylum seekers and refugees. The volunteers will assist the staff in the legal guidance activities on the procedure for the recognition of international protection, in the guidance and access to healthcare, social, legal and educational services and in all the activities aiming to socio-economic inclusion of the individuals (support in job placement and access to housing services).

Socially excluded and migrant support: The EVS volunteers will assist the local volunteers giving material and social support to the people that come every day to the counselling centre. This area of the organisation's work would be interesting to a volunteer who is particularly interested in people's well being and who might have former experience or just simply wants to learn how disadvantaged people can be helped.
The role of the EVS volunteers will be to work along the staff and volunteers delivering services to the public. They will have the opportunity to carry out new experiences, increase their awareness of relevant issues and to develop their own attitude/strategy to inform our local service-users. A volunteer with good language skills will also have the opportunity to do interpretation and translation for the people in need of assistance.

There will be opportunities for the volunteers to be creative and contribute to our work especially in the organisation of events like the world refugee day which aims to raise awareness about refugee issues and promote positive encounters between the Italian people and the refugees community. They can organize "thematic-days" where to represent their country and culture or anything they feel is important to communicate to the others.
The volunteers will also develop the following non-formal and informal abilities and competencies:
Communication; interaction with staff, volunteers and service-users; group work skills; problem solving; knowledge through experience.
