Resumo: The host organization is located in a city with the area of 6.6 km2 and almost 7,000 inhabitants.

Today it is a town that has experienced a strong economic boost and the increasse of it's population due to industrial activity especially linked to canning companies, nautical industry and fishing.

The Youth Service aims at regulating and coordinating all services focused on the active participation of young people in this municipality, through the promotion and development of actions, projects, services and necessary equipment.

Perfil: A candidate to volunteer should be motivated to devote their time in the benefit of children and youth of the city in an altruist and supportive way and whose physical and mental condition allows them to carry out project tasks.

The Youth Service has delegated the selection process to the coordinating organization- Association.

There are no special requirements and no specialized knowledge is necessary, because the host organization will provide volunteers with a specific training at the beginning and during the duration of the project as the level of volunteers' Spanish improves. It is however an added value if a candidate has previous experience with youth and children or is/was a member of a youth association and/or has collaborated with other NGOs and has taken part in campaigns raising awareness on social issues at a local or regional level.

Due to project characteristics, the ideal candidate for this project should have at least the basic level of Spanish- because the project is too short to allow volunteers with absolutely NO knowledge of Spanish to learn enough to carry out project tasks satisfactorily, bearing in mind the language support that we can offer. If their adaptation period is too long and the project tasks too easy for a long period of time, volunteers can lose their motivation. Our intention is to host volunteers with different language levels, so that they can help each other and the person with a higher level of Spanish can be in charge of the group of volunteers.

Our Project is open to both: male and female volunteers, since one of the values we promote through our youth service is coeducation and our workers and volunteers should be a model for our users. In all cases, balance is to be kept. In order to create an intercultural environment and not to discriminate anyone, our intention is to host volunteers, whose countries of origin are different, thus it boosts intercultural learning.

Volunteers who decide to take part in this project should respect the aims of the organization, complying with the rules established by the organization, taking part in specific training organized by the host and coordinating organization and collaborating with the planning and evaluation of the activities, carrying out the designated tasks, keeping all the information and personal data confidential, being respectful towards the users of the programme, staff and other volunteers (signing of the contract).

Our volunteer should be motivated, flexible, with initiative and suggesting activities. Moreover, the volunteer should be ready to live in a shared flat with other European volunteer.

No specific competences are required; however volunteers should be mature enough and rather independent.

In order to offer our volunteers learning opportunities in different fields, apart from carrying out daily tasks in the host organization, volunteers mey be asked to help in the activities carried out by Associaciation(coordinating organization). Our project is designed to be adjustable to volunteer's profile, interests and individual needs. Volunteer can choose to be more active in the area where they feel most comfortable.

All the volunteers who wish to participate in our Project, should respect the aims and objectives of the Youth Service, Association and Youth Programme, as well as they should participate actively in the training cycle established by the Programme and by the coordinating organization.
Age:

Tarefas: The EVS volunteer will be one of the team, although the Youth Service is aware, that their level of participation may be lower because of the language and cultural differences and that the young person might need more support.

Volunteers will take part and support professional staff in daily regular free time activities, volunteer training and other activities carried out by the Youth Service in collaboration with other organizations or Educative Centers, giving volunteers the opportunity for personal and proffesional development in different areas.

All of the mentioned activities allow volunteers to contribute with their experience, ideas and creativity.

The project is organized in such a way that it can suit the individual profile, needs and interests of each volunteer.

Volunteers will be also involved in activities to promote "Youth in Action and EVS" and will have the opportunity to propose initiatives and project ideas in the area of promotion of Youth in Action and European awareness and topics concerning Europe among youth and youth workers in educative centers.

Volunteer's daily activities will take place from Monday to Thursday in the afternoon between 16.00 and 20.30 and on Fridays from 16.00 to 21.00 and also in the morning three days a week from 10.00 to 13.00, volunteers will be involved in dissemination activities of Youth in Action (blog , dissemination of information, designing campaigns , etc ... )or the language activities.

They might also collaborate to carry out specific activities of which many can take place on weekends or in the morning (10 to 13.30 ) , provided they do not colide with the language training activities that will take place in the morning of 10:00 to 13:00 hours.

The tasks of the volunteer might be:

Planning, carrying out and evaluation of the activities in which they participate (proposals, suggestions and initiatives of the volunteer will be taken into account).
Participation in working groups with other local volunteers, making of the materials, searching for resources.
Helping to design and carry out information campaigns about Youth in Action (designing and distribution of leaflets, organizing calendar of events, designing promo material, PP presentations).
