The biggest problems of the citizens of the city are the difficult economic situations. Unemployment rate reaches up to approximately 9,3%.
The Foundation is located in the district, approx. 15 kilometres from the centre of the town. The district is occupied by over 80,000 people. There is no cinema, theatres, or any other cultural entertainment the district, however, our Foundation with its activities tries to fulfill the lack of cultural life. Moreover, the foundation is situated right next to the beautiful natural forest.

The Foundation prepares concerts, performances, competitions, garden-parties, conferences, meetings with famous people, projects for youth, day room, workshops as well as summer and winter camps. These events are addressed to citizens, however some of them are of regional or countrywide range. We are a catholic organization and are closely connected to the parish "God’s mother the queen of Martyrs". We also have regional volunteers. Because of the huge enquiry of children, youth, disabled, ill, and unemployed people who come to us regularly we would like to invite international volunteers to join us in our work.

The other organization is a non-government organization. It has recently moved to a new building – this organization, which is much more spacious and offers a number of new activities for the inhabitants.
The House is built according to teachings of John Paul II. The latter highlighted the harmonious and wholesome development of a human being. This is a 4-storey building each storey corresponding to different spheres of human life and action. Ground floor corresponding to physical sphere comprises physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, gym, fitness rooms; First floor corresponds to psychical sphere containing Advice Centre, artistic cafA© and spectacular hall. Second Floor corresponds to intellectual sphere and contains computer, conference, educational rooms. The last floor corresponds to spiritual sphere. It comprises John Paul II hall, winter garden, workshop of plastic arts, chapel and room with fireplace. The foundation employs about 40 people full-time and more than 60 people few hours a week and the volunteers.

The Foundation also comprises Workshop Therapy Place which is also located in the district in a separate place. WTP is 20 minutes away walk from the main building. There are 30 participants in the the foundation, all over 16 years of age. Some of them have physical disabilities while others have mental disabilities. The foundation employs 6 therapists (1 for every workshop) in addition to a rehabilitation therapist, nurse and administrators.
Furthermore, we cooperate with several kindergartens, primary schools, junior high, high schools and colleges. We also collaborate with local governments, city hall, public and private institutions.
Volunteers live in univesity dormitories in 2, 3 or 4-person rooms. Dormitories are also located in the district. They are about 5 and 15 minutes on foot from work place. Volunteers receive monthly ticket for transport.
Volunteers get money for food and pocket expenses every month. They prepare meal themselves or go to local bars and restaurants.

Volunteers, who want to cooperate with the foundation will get to know the aims and the structure of the organization by supporting its activities. We would like to meet new volunteers, make use of the volunteers’ individual skills, exchange experiences and give them opportunity to develop themselves.

Perfil: The Foundation gathers CV and motivation letters from partner organizations or directly from the volunteers. The foundation contacts selected volunteers by skype, phone or e-mail. Once volunteer is chosen we ask the volunteer to fill in the e-form and start preparation for the project.

He/she should be interested in work with children, youth, disabled people or adults. Volunteers should be flexible, creative and communicative. Experience in national culture, social and youth work, and work with disabled people would be an asset.

Volunteers will learn how to work in the office and familiarize with the administrational and personal structures of the organization. During this time we encourage them to take part in intensive Polish language classes.
We are open to cooperate with every sending organization.

We appreciate that volunteers also have their own ideas about organizing activities in the projects. We would like to carry out the project together with volunteers. Each of them will be presented by volunteers who will be working in groups and will present Christmas customs of their countries.

On short term projects we would like to host volunteers (including those with fewer opportunities). They will work with disabled people and help orginazing workshops for them. Volunteers will work with them in every workshop, like woodwork, making candles, etc. Short term is a very intensive time that will broaden volunteers’ horizons, build up their self-esteem and help them learn to make decisions, take responsibilities, be more independent and get used to team work. People with fewer opportunities - people with physical disabilities will learn to overlook their shortcomings and highlight their advantages and strong points. People with disabilities and those with fewer opportunities are on the edge of social exclusion and are exposed to loneliness. Group work with the disabled people will help a volunteer with fewer opportunities socialize with other people and integrate in it, which will affect positively on their future life.
