Resumo: The Foundation helps the Nursery School, where attends Hungarian, Romanian and Rroma children. The teaching language is Hungarian and English. There are three groups with three nursery teachers. The smallest age groups consist of 1-2,5 years old, the little group consists of 3-4 years old, and the big group consists of 5-6 years old children. The groups are located in three huge halls. The new building and playground was finished in September 2007. The new building offers better standards for the education, the halls are large enough, and there are three kitchens for preparing the food and even a gym hall for the children.

As we are working with preschool children one of the basic rules of the kindergarten is that the volunteer should love small children, be a decent person with proper behaviour towards the children in the nursery. The volunteer also should be willing to establish the best contact with the staff in order to implement the project

Perfil: The volunteer candidates have to be between 18 and 30 years of age, or between 16 and 30 if they are people with fewer opportunities. They have to come from Programme Countries and Neighbouring Partner Countries, and the Other Partner Countries of the World. Their background, colour, ethnic group, sexual orientation, religion or views does not count. CsF would like to host volunteers who love small children, because this is the most important attribute. It is preferably to be English speaking persons, with advanced knowledge of English (especially speaking) without any bad accent. The Foundation is based on moral values, therefore it would be the best to have volunteers who shares these values. The volunteers will be a member of the staff with equal rights and duties, which means that they will take part in all of the activities including board-meetings and decision-taking after they finish their language training. It would be important for the volunteers to integrate well in the staff and in the same time to be able to carry out individual tasks.

We received to times accreditation from our National Agency therefore the Foundation is in the database of that webpage. CsF writes e-mails to the would-be partners and mentions its “vacant EVS placement” on the web in order to find the best possible partners. If there are more candidates than the number of vacant EVS placements, a selection will be carried out first by the SO, and then by the HO. The selection consists of an interview, when the candidates are presented with the project, the aims, the duration, location and target groups. It is important for each candidate to have equal chances in obtaining the right to participate in the project. The HO will have its interview on skype. There will be picked up those candidates whose profile, interests and desires will be closer to the aim of the project and profile of the volunteer. The profile requirement, the project, the aim, duration, location, target groups and selection process, results will be communicated to the candidates for more openness and transparency, for equal chances to each candidate.
Since the volunteers will have to work with children, they need to accept and love children between the age of 1 and 6. They don’t need any former training for that, but they have to be open to what is offered as informal and non-formal learning. They will have to communicate in English with the children, parents and staff, therefore they need to have good knowledge of English. They will work in teams, so it is good if they are keen to do that, or if they don’t know what that means, to be open to learn it.
CsF is looking for serious, reliable, trustworthy partners as SO’s, who are ready to find the best candidates, to be in permanent touch with us and the volunteers, who are ready to offer support when they need it.

Tarefas: The Foundation offers for the volunteers lodging (room) in the building of the nursery with one daily meal at noon from Monday to Friday. The lunch will be served together with the children and the staff. For breakfast, supper and week-end the volunteers will provide for themselves (there are shops nearby), and they will be reimbursed. The majority of the staff is university graduates, who travelled a lot in Europe, lived in different countries for longer periods; therefore they could help the volunteers facing economical, cultural or geographical obstacles. The volunteers can learn Hungarian language during their EVS placement. They will learn how to deal with under-aged children by informal learning, and they may choose as an educational career later on. They will learn tolerance, self-esteem, how to manage time, money, how to live abroad, how to be creative and they will aquire different competences.

We think that by offering a possibility for young people from abroad to do a voluntary service they will learn during their term, Romania to work in team, to take decisions, to be flexible and to teach children. The staff and the manager of the kindergarten will assist the volunteers to integrate easily in their team, to learn to take decision alone, they will advice them, coach them, they will teach them to adjust to the changing situations and to deal with the under-aged children. The staff and the manager will provide support and directives by personal example, and if necessary, they will organise separate courses for the proper training of the volunteers. The trained mentor will help them to overcome their problems and issues.
The programme of the volunteers will run from Mondays till Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekends and holidays will be free.

The volunteer main task will be helping the nursery teacher in every group activity, to speak in English with the children, and to teach English is she is capable. They will participate and help to organize celebrations (Halloween, Christmas, Carnival, Easter, Mother’s day, Sport’s day, etc.). The volunteers will participate in all programs and activities in the nursery, as:
- welcoming the parents and the children when they arrive to the nursery
- in the morning circle time (singing, the hour, the day and the date, choose daily leader, etc.)
- in free choice time (during this time each child will choose an activity which strengthens the unit lesson theme, and for example language lessons, art, music etc., in transition)
- in helping during the snack time, practical application time, transition (bathroom, dress for outdoors etc.), change nappies
- free play, playground
- lunch time, help them to eat, to wash their teeth, to dress them
- put children to sleep and oversee their rest, move the beds for the children
- play games and say goodbye.
Depending on their skills the volunteers can run different activities. They can teach the children new games, songs or may lead even a choir or a drawing club, can teach them to play a musical instrument, to dance, they can accompany them to the swimming lessons, can help in designing a calendar for the children, and in other outdoor activities (excursions, skating etc.).
