Resumo: The Foundation is an independent non-profit organisation. The foundation's main target is working on the awareness of the individual; to stimulate his or her development and improve his or her position in society. The Foundation's target group is mainly youth, youth organisations and specifically youth in a disadvantaged situation. The foundation realises its targets trough development, educational and training activities. The foundation owns two accommodations. The building and the Icebreaker building. The foundation can host 42 people and the Icebreaker can host 20 people.

The Foundation is located 300 metres from the city centre of the city, which is based in the North- Eastern part of Holland. It has approximately 17.000 inhabitants. The city is famous for its natural environment: it is surrounded by woods and farmlands.

Although is a rural area, it is very reachable; the capital of the region, (150.000 inhabitants) is 20 minutes by train.

Amsterdam is approximately 2 hours by train from the city.
The economy of the city mainly depends on tourism. It has numerous family camping's, mostly used by Dutch families. The city is relatively rich city; and although it mainly depends on tourism, nowadays most of the city inhabitants have jobs that does not concern tourism, e.g. office jobs, governmental jobs etc.

The foundation is know by the locale population of the city. The volunteers are actively involved in running the youth centre an on all levels working on the maintains and exploitation of the centre, therefore there is daily contact whit the users of the centre and the local organisations where shopping needs to be done and support needs to be arrange by involving other organisations. In this way there is a constant interaction between locals and the international volunteers.

About Ommen

A quite, green, lovable, famers’ town with a tourist touch during the Dutch “summer” (as Dutch people call it). It has many of the countries’ most beautiful bike routes. Perfil: This is a project exclusively for those youngsters who have fewer chances in participating in international events because they face different obstacles/circumstances.
These circumstances are:

- Belonging to a minority
- Having fiscal or mental Handicapped
- Having a chronicle disease
- Youngsters unemployed for more that 3 months
- Dropouts (having no education or dropped out of school);
- Geographical obstacles (living isolated from society);
- Living in a (post)-conflict country;
- Living in poverty (having an income below national average or less);
- Coming from broken families;
- Lack of social skills (missing the ability to interact in a common way with other people);

Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: You will have the opportunity to work in several different places:
- Horse farm
- Pet shelter
- Forest company
- Youth camping
- Bird shelter
- Horse farm for autistic children
- Cooking place in tourist industry
- Supporting and maintaining the organization

We are also looking for more possibilities, as the summertime in Ommen brings extra opportunities for the ones who are willing to go for them.

During the working time you will have the chance to cooperate with people from all over Europe. This will happen in different groups and in different environments.

This way you can find what you like doing and what you are good at. Maybe you even find what is it that you want to do in your life!!

If there is somewhere where you would like to get additional work experience or that you are already good on doing please let us know. For example: gardening, enjoy repairing or constructing, organizing tasks and events. Take a few moments and think about it while filling in the application.

Horário: The working week is from Monday till Friday, and every working week has 36 hours, including travelling time.

Condições: Free time: You can spend your free time in many different ways: visiting cities,sitting around with new international friends, biking, joining Karaoke evenings,singing songs around a camp fire, movie nights, dancing, etc.

Internet Connection: In our office, there are free computers that you can use whenever you want. Also a wireless connection is available in the residency to use your own laptops and electronic devises.

Food: There are 3 meals per day during these 8 weeks: breakfast, lunch and dinner, like it is in the Dutch culture.

Pocket Money: As a participant of this project, you receive €230,- for two months for your private expenses, which will be given on a weekly basis.

Housing: During the project you are hosted by the Olde Vechte Foundation in Ommen. There are two building that belong to the foundation; one is called Olde Vechte and the building of your stay which is called Zeesse. There you have the opportunity to share rooms with people from different countries. In order to create a pleasant environment for yourself to live in, you will also have some housekeeping duties, which are very basic and simple.

Mentor: A mentor is a person, who can guide you in order to set and reach goals and find your own solutions. During the project there will be an international group of 5 mentors, who have experience on coaching and guiding young people. They also have personal experiences with volunteering and international projects and will be there to support you during these 8 weeks.
