Resumo: The center was founded in order to fulfill the needs of local children coming from social risk environment, disabled children or children in need – to help kids improve social skills, to provide psychological support, to help with homework, to organize leisure time activities and provide constructive occupation. Up to 20 kids 7-16 years old come everyday to the center after school. There are various measures for creative activities, sports inventory, audio and video equipment, we celebrate festivals together, organize trips or excursions.
The center is located in a very small towns and life would look absolutely differently – not many young people, place is quite distant from intensive life.

Perfil: Age: 17-30 years old

Tarefas: Kids coming to the centre experience difficulties in their families and in school, lack of structure and motivation, even though it is not visible right away. Main task of the volunteer is to become friends with kids, rebuild the trust in adults and motivate to constructive behavior, involve in creative activities, where children can learn new
skills.

We offer an opportunity for the volunteer to improve communication skills with kids, animation skills, experience the challenge and joy of building trustful relationship with children, learn team-work, improve social skills and try him/herself in social field. Volunteer will work as assistant or animator of group of children depending on the wish of the volunteer he/she may have individual activities with kids. We hope the volunteers will take part in everyday activities – creative workshops, games, homework, sports; will contribute to various events with his/her assistance, ideas or organization. We hope that the volunteer will teach children their own language and introduce their own cultural peculiarities. We’d be happy if volunteer would present his/her country to employees and local people.

Volunteer will learn:
1. Lithuanian language, songs, etc;
2. Volunteer learn about the peculiarities of Lithuanian culture;
3. New methods of work with children at day center;
4. Learn to create art works;
5. volunteer will learn more bout him/herself;

Condições: Accommodation: One volunteer gets private room in shared apartment (3-5 people living in one flat or house). Usually accommodation is modest and located near the centre (15-20 min by bus), in the old buildings, which might look so much different from what you expect it to be. Temperature inside the room in winter might be ~18 oC. We ask for 35 EUR deposit in order to prevent damage or loss related, but if no damage done and if there were no abuse of rules, deposit is given back.
