Resumo: The activity in the organization is versatile. In the village, there are organic greenhouses for vegetable cultivation and an organic forestry, the only one to exist in Iceland. There is also a shop/gallery, a café, a bakery, guesthouses and many art exhibitions throughout the year. There are a total of six workshops in the village; a
candle workshop, ceramics, weaving, carpentry, fine art atelier and an herbal workshop that makes soaps, creams, paper etc.
You will also find a church, sculpture garden, arboretum, sports hall, gym, swimming pool, music garden and an
art gallery. During summer and winter, cultural festivals are held which involve music, fine art and theatre which bring the community together. The eco-centre opened in 2002 where most conferences, meetings and other gatherings are held both for the village and visitors

Perfil: The volunteer project is open to current students (college undergraduate or graduate level) and non-students (18-
30 years old), but preference is given to those who demonstrate initiative,enthusiasm, personal motivation
with a focus on community sustainability, artistic skills/training, environmental studies, and/or specific research
focused on the organization’s needs.

Tarefas: Although the bakery is relatively new to the organization, it is already an essential part of life here. Bread, cakes and buns are baked daily for the community. The bakery and the food production is developing fast and gaining markets outside of the organization area and we need people willing to participate in developing, packing and delivering organic products to new markets. The future product line will consist of bread, cakes, buns and other delicates from the bakery and chutney, jam, ketchup, mustard and other organic sauces from the food production. The plan as well is to pack organic raw food materials for the consumer market. Nærandi is looking for volunteers that have some background or great interest in food production and someone who is willing to learn and take directions. If you feel you could bring creativity, initiative and a jolly character to the food production sector of the organization, then you would enjoy being a part of this here in the village.
Main Tasks are:
-Pack products
-Layer and arrange baked goods
-Keep the work place clean,
-Prepare ingredients for all the recipes and even at times

-Collect rhubarb from the organization’s local rhubarb patch
