Resumo: "The H2 SchülerInnenzentrum is like a youth-centre. The only difference is the target group. In our centre (H2) we welcome all pupils from 14 to 20 years. The H2 is situated in the centre of St. Pölten, the capital of Lower Austria, 60 km from Vienna. St. Pölten has about 50.000 inhabitants and every day 12.000 pupils from all around St. Pölten come to our town to attend different schools.

To these pupils we offer the possibility to pass their time after school in our centre, sometimes we propose different activities like music courses, sports, games, learning help, etc.
We offer consultation for problems in school, with family or with friends.
We have several special events with a thematic focus (Creative days, Job-Orientation, Love and Sexuality, etc.) during the year.
Our opening times are Tuesday to Friday from 11.30 to 17.00. Sometimes we have activities on weekends.
The fixed working hours for the volunteer are:
Every second week on Monday we have a team meeting from 14 to 16 (Time can
Change -depends on our members) and in the evening there is the possibility to play volleyball
Tuesday to Friday 10 to 12 /13 to 17 o´clock (Tuesday morning we have special breakfast event)
Special events and project on weekends take place 2 or 3 times a year.
Holidays are usually when schools are closed: christmas-holidays(2 weeks), half-term-holidays (1 week), easter-holidays (1 ½ week). (But there is the possibility that we could have some events in these times too. For example Youth exchange,…)
Our team consists of experienced social workers, educational advisors and pupils/students. Every other week we meet for reflecion and evaluation. In these meetings we also discuss special problems with youngsters or plan new activities. The volunteer will have the possibility to take part in team reflecion or individual supervision.
St. Pölten is the capital of the province Lower Austria. It is one of the oldest cities in Austria. It hosts many education institutions, so there is a big student scene. It is also not far from Vienna (about 60 km, 45 minutes by train), which makes it possible to enjoy the benefits of both cities for entertainement.

Perfil: "A volunteer should in general be interested and willing to work with children. This is simple the only condition we have for volunteers. No further experiences or skills are required.

Even though the H2 SchülerInnenzentrum is a catholic organization we are very open to host volunteers from every confession.
Special needs:
The H2 SchülerInnenzentrum is in principal open for everyone.
The center itself is unfortunately not accessable for volunteers in a wheelchair as we do not have the infrustructure but we would in general host volunteers with a physical or mental disability if the volunteer is able to life independently.
The living place for the volunteer is in the same buidling than the project itself and the volunteer will live with other Austrian flatmates but the daily management like cooking, cleaning the room, shopping, etc needs to be done by the volunteer him/herself. The staff of H2 SchülerInnenzentrum will of course support during the first time.

Tarefas: "The presence of an EVS volunteers supports the insight and appreciation for europe and the development of an european solidarity. By integrating the EVS volunteer in the activities and projects, the youngsters are offerend a different perspective in their daily life. Evs volunteers enrich and complete our work with youngsters. This project really supports the european idea.
We forsee the following tasks for the volunteer: on one hand to develop project work with the youngsters and on the other hand organising leisure time activities for the youngsters. Part of the work will also be being present at the teammeetings, were activities and the programme are planned. In total the volunteer will work about 30 hours per week, normally from Monday to Friday. Once or twice a year there can be activities or special events in the weekends.
During the opening hours of our centre, we always offer leisure time activities: the youngsters can play table football, do games, surf the internet, watch video's or do something creative (painting, drawing…) We would like the volunteer to be present during the leisure time activities, interact with the youngsters and to join them in their activities and games. Knowing out if the experience of the past years, the volunteer, as a foreigner, new to the country and the town and belonging to the same age group takes over a specific role towards the youngsters.
About half of the time we offer special activities, where the youngsters can participate. These activities are project based and are oriented twoards topics that are interested for young people. We would also like to volunteer to join in the project oriented work, and join in or take over the responsibility expecially for these projects where he/she can give special imput. All projects are teamwork, so the volunteer would not be left alone if she/he does not feel comfortable. Together with one of the other staff members the special role and tasks for the volunteer are defined within each project. Some projects last for one afternoon, some last for several weeks, and require weekly workshops/activities.
Some examples of special projects in which we would like to integrate the volunteer are:
Theatre and literature project: the volunteer can give imput on plays, films, books from his/her language and culture and prepare workshops on these.
Human rights and anti-racism projects: the volunteer can take his/her own background and experiences for his/her own country: present the situation in his/her country and have discussions on topics like this.
Sport projects: When the volunteer likes sport, we would like to take initiative in the sports groups.
Gender projects: if the volunteer is female we would like to participate on the projects especially for girls (on self defense, discussions on sexuality etc.).
International projects: H2 tries to organise international youth exchanges on a regular basis, in order to offer the pupils of the centre the opportunity to get to visit the country of the (former) volunteers. The EVS volunteer can help to organise these exchanges (not necessarily with his/her own country) and in the frame of these preparations for example organise discussions and workshops on 'Europe' in order to develop the european citzenship of the youngsters.
Of course we would like the volunteer to organise some (inter)national days with the youngsters: organise cooking, singing, language workshops, games, traditions from his/her own country. We foresee several international days in the project period.
As we are open to new ideas and activities, the volunteer can offer activities according to some special interest of him/her as well. Together with the team these ideas will be integrated in the regular programm.
Within the Grenzenlos EVS programm also a variety of freetime activitioes are proposed to the volunteers. If he/she wanst it is also possible to present workshops with the support of Grenzenlos to the other EVS volunteers.
