Resumo: The host organization is located in a city with a population of 200,000 inhabitants, is the city with the highest population rate in the region. Thanks to an important architectural heritage, the city receives many visitors all year round. It is a university city and it has a various industry. The economical statistics of the city (unemployment rate, average income per house) are close to the national average. The city proposes different facilities: a good urban transport network, leisure infrastructure, cultural centres, theatre and concert hall…
The volunteer will have his own flat at the organization. He will have to repect some rules like quietness of others residents, tell the organisation in case of long absence and ask before inviting someone at home. Indeed the volunteer may host guests who would visit him during the week-end sometimes. The organization is spread between two places. One is located in a small city in the suburb and the other is located in a neighbourhood of the city. The accommodation of the volunteer and most part of the activities take place in the neighbourhood. To move from one place to the other, the volunteer may use a car of the organisation if he owns driving licence B. If he does not, he may do it with bus and then, the tickets will be paid by the organization. During the week-end, the volunteer will use public transports and its cost will be paid by the organization too. The volunteer will have all his meals at the organization during the first month for more facilities. After that he will have the possibility to receive money (30 euros by week-end) during the week-end to cook in his flat whether he would like.
Perfil: It seems necessary that volunteers wish to improve human qualities such as sense of hearing, patience and communication skills. The organization wish to host volunteer who have a bit of initiative. A key criteria for the volunteer is to have basic French knowledge because of the disabled people who speak and understand hard. Moreover they are very sensitive to misunderstanding. At last, we will pay special attention that volunteers do not dread to work with disabled people.
Selection process
The co-ordinating structure will accept all candidatures and will deal with them equally. In other words, the main criteria taken into account will be the motivation and the profile of the candidate, and whether they match the project. We will pay a special attention to well argued candidatures that propose idea of personal project and/or activities to the host organisation.
The selection process will count several several steps:
First, a CV and an appropriate motivation letter will be required. After a shortlisting, the co-ordinating organisation will meet the host organisation in order to determine the candidates who match the expected profile better. Then candidates will be contacted by phone to get a clearer view of the motivation and skills of the candidates. Candidates will have the opportunity to express the wishes and opinion on the project as well as the role they intend to have in it. Finaly, the host orgnisation will decide alone who it will host as volunteer.

Tarefas: Volunteer role
The first role expected from the volunteer is the support to the pedagogical pool of the organization in order to helpe them to set up and run daily activities and workshops. He will take part to workshops corresponding to his self-interest and skills. However volunteer is not a medical or social professional worker, he will have rather a role accompanying and listening person for disabled people who live at the centre. Within this framework, he will take part to the socialization of disabled people who encounter usually exclusion situation. He will accompany them in their personal and daily projects of social integration:
- The volunteer will accompany disabled people downtown in daily life situation and contacts making. Those outings will be followed and evaluated.
- The volunteer will go with disabled people to sport and social activity places.
- In friendly places like cafés, pub or stores.
Therefore, the volunteerwill have rather a role of listening disabled people in another wzay than professional worker of mediacal and social field.
The voluntaeer will have also the opportunity to set up a personal project based on his skills and main interests. This project will be bigger than regular activities. It could be the setting up of a trip for disabled people or a new wworkshop.
Volunteer activities
As it has been explained before, volunteer will take part to different workshops during the week. Hereunder a typical weekly timetable is proposed:
Monday morning: table tennis with the sport teacher
Monday afternoon: plastic art workshop
Tuesday morning: jewellery workshop
Tuesday afternoon: relaxation
Wednesday morning: library
Wednesday afternoon: singing/music
Thursday morning: computer workshop
Thursday afternoon: gardening
Friday morning: Eurocitizen workshop
Friday afternoon: video game
Those workshops are exemples. Other activities are conceivable. The volunteer will also have the opportunity to propose new activity and can set it up with the pedagogical support of the staff as well as less formal activities. As already mentionned, he can also accompany disabled people to achieve their personal projects.
Expected learning outcomes
The volunteer will discover how works a non-profit organisation in France especially in the medical and social field. He will learn a lot about the works of professional worker on the medical an social field, because of steady contacts with doctors, nurses, medical assistants, physical therapists, occupationnal therapist, counselor, social workers, teacher specialized in the Education of Individuals with Disabilities.
Moreover, if the volunteer is not native French speaker, he will imrove language skills. He will also improve skills to be counselors and to work with disabled people. He will improve his comprehension of disabled people matter and all subjects related to it in our modern society. He will improve his sense of hearing.
He will develop his capabilities to be flexible and initiative. He will develop also other virtues that will be useful in his professional and personal life, like : patience, attentiveness, perseverance.
He will live also an intercultural learning.
Proposed services
As well as accomodation and food, the volunteer will benefit several support. He may use a bycicle and buses to move in the city. He can use a car to move from one place of the organisation to the other. He will follow French lessons. He will take advantage of the laundry service of the organisation.
