Resumo: "The Litija Commune lies in the center of Slovenia, east of Ljubljana, in the western part of the region Posavsko hribovje, which surrounds the river Sava from both sides. The commune measures approximately 227 km2, counts 14.530 citizen and includes 108 settlements. Litija is a city of 7.000 inhabitants. There are 13 larger settlements, besides the city, in the region of the commune. The hillside surroundings are rarely inhabited, the bigger settlements arose in the valley of river Sava where the major traffic lines are lying, as well as the railroad. Litija is therefore extremely well connected with practically whole Slovenia, since it lies on the railroad, which connects Maribor and Ljubljana. The majority of it's inhabitants enjoy the middle life standard, consequently the life standard of the city is not any lower. The climate if fairly warm.
There are many locations available to the youth for socializing: MC Litija(Youth center Litija),Klub litijskih in šmarskih študentov(Club of Litija and Šmartno Students), city bowling, sports hall, many asphalted playgrounds(basketball, football, …), library, many nongovernmental organization from the fields of culture, sport,… lots of gastronomical premises,… All of those locations are in the city or on its surroundings, in the distance of two kilometers. Many students, nevertheless that they study in Ljubljana, still live in Litija, since there are very good traffic connections (30 minutes with the train) and there is no need for temporary residence change.
Besides the above mentioned, there are many options of visiting cultural and natural sights.
Vaèe is among the most famous excursion sites in the Litija commune, as well as the wider region. They are known for the ""Vaèe situla"" and other archeological findings from the era between the 5th and 6th century a.d. and also for the geometrical center of Slovenia (GEOSS). The agitated surface offers many possibilities for recreation and excursions. The whole area is interweaved with cycling and hiking paths and many tourist farms. The most famous hiking events are Levstikova pot od Litije do Èateža(Levstik's hiking path from Litija to Èatež), Oglarska pot na Dolah pri Litiji(The coal path on Dole pri Litiji) as well as the hike from the little church to another little church on Polšnik, which connects 5 little churches on different neighboring hills. Many visitors come to Litija just for the famous traditional events, for instance the Carnival, the Hike and cycling trip to the GEOSS (geometrical center of Slovenia), Knightly games on castle Bogenšperk and other festivities as well as cultural events in Litija.
Nevertheless that Litija is a developed city; there are still socially threatened families, whose children have fewer opportunities for learning, gaining experiences and activity on various fields. Because of these reasons many of the projects of MC Litija are also meant for these youths.
In Litija there are many possibilities for organization of nutrition. There are lots of gastronomical premises, where one can find a large variety of food. Even more, we have an abundantly large number of markets, shops, discount stores… where one can buy food and drinks at favorable prices. One can then prepare this food on his own.
In the closer proximity of Litija lies the city Trbovlje. The youth center in Trbovlje has already developed a European volunteer service, which will enable the volunteers, who will come to Litija, socializing and experience sharing with other soul mates - EVS volunteers. In this way we will offer them besides explicit intercultural dialogue, also to get to know different views and experiences directly from EVS-volunteers, which will help then with smoother integration into the local environment, as well as acquiring personal social connections.

multimedia projects, - cooporating in desinging of MM content on our web
site, - tapeing of 5 short documentary films about bigger projects of
Youth center Litija, - cooporating in short experimental movie, - being
part of workshops for art and reportage photographing

Condições: "The description of the volunteer's residence in Litija:
- We will search for an accommodation in a flat; this will probably be a divided residential unit in a residential building in the city of Litija, where he will have a fully equipped kitchen available, bathroom and all corresponding kitchen tools; in this way the volunteer will be completely independent in his free time.
- These residential conditions will allow the volunteer the preparation of his own food, we will however recommend various premises in the city and surrounding, dependent on the wishes of the volunteer; in the proximity are also numerous shopping malls.
- The work of the volunteers will be going on partly in the morning, but also partly in the afternoon(help with execution of project of MC Litija); we will ensure the volunteer time to rest between work and work-free days according to the current legislation and EVS rules,
- Possible problems, which the volunteer may encounter during organization of residence and work, will be treated with the help of the mentor. We will ensure a mentor, who has experience with studying and working abroad. In this way the competences of the mentor in cooperation with the volunteer will be much better, since the mentor may identify the current problems as problems he may have encountered during his time abroad, and therefore will know how to solve them.
