Numerous events take place in the city throughout the year. The most important of them are the Music Festival, attended by orchestras from all over Croatia and the Summer Nights (during June, July and August), a series of cultural and entertainment programs in the open, accompanied by excellent food and fairs. We would like that the volunteer actively observe these community events and share his/her opinion with us through articles that s/he can write about.

Agriculture has made the town the country's semi-official gastronomical capital. Local dishes include traditional Slavonian-style specialties (kulen, paprika-flavored sausage, other kinds of sausages, ham, bacon, dairy products), as well as venison and fish dishes such as the famous riblji paprikaA! (fish stew made with paprika).

The recreational and sports centre located on the left bank of the river, provides opportunities for various water sports (outdoor swimming pools and a sand beach with various facilities) during the summer months. The city offers various sport playgrounds: football, handball, basketball, tennis courts, indoor swimming pool etc.

Transportation in the city is possible via tram, bus, taxi or bike. We are the city with the most bicycle roads in Croatia and there will be a few bicycles at the disposal for the volunteers. We are very well known for our 17 parks. The largest park is in the centre of the city and on the way to the old part which has schools, universities, museums and nightlife.
