Resumo: The host organization is located in an important economic centre in Romania. Some of the local brands have become well-known at a national, and to some extent even international level. Also much of the software/IT activity in the country is taking place in the city, which is quickly becoming Romania's technopolis.
A specific feature of the social environment is the big number of young people living in yhr city. This due to the fact that the city is considered an important educational centre and many choose its universities after graduating from highschool. In this way the city has become a city with a young spirit that offers a great variety of activities and opportunities for students coming to learn here.

From the perspective of volunteerism the community can be characterized as being opened towards this kind of activities. The great number of NGO’s working in the city in different areas of activity (social, cultural, environment) increases the need for volunteers and therefore compels to develop new programs for volunteers and to maintain a professional aproach.

There is a big number of opportunities available in the city for those who want to become volunteers, from the commitement that is expected from them (in terms of hours offered per week, or in terms of short versus long term volunteering) to the specific domain of activity as mentioned before.

As a “resource centre”, the Volunteer Centre takes into consideration all the aspects metioned before when designing a program for volunteers. Our mission and our position in the local community offer us a great number of contacts with NGO’s and also local institutions in the city that work with volunteers. Thus we could say that the organization is always updated with the changes in the volunteering area, all this ( the contacts and the knowledge ) will also be transfered to our volunteers, both local and international.
More details regarding the organisational environment in which the volunteer will work will be offered in the specific project proposals. Also rules of a live-in community that have to be taken into consideration by the volunteer will be mentioned, if this is the case.

Perfil: we are looking for volunteers motivated and interested in their own personal and professional development and that see EVS as a chance to gain skills, experience, values, etc. The EVS volunteers we are looking for keep their minds opened to the learning process and are at the same time ready to share skills, experience and knowledge by being creative and thinking out of the box.
Age: 17 until 30 years old

Tarefas: • Organizing events during the National Volunteer Week (The National Volunteer Week is a 7-day event that usually takes place every spring, in April-May. The main idea is that of promoting volunteering through different activities that take place every day, but also to create the opportunity of thanking volunteers for their work during those activities specially designed for them.)
• Participating in organizing the Awards Ceremony is organised every year on the 5th of December (the International Day of Volunteers) and represents a way of recognizing the volunteers working in our community and the importance of their involvement during a formal and public ceremony.
• Developing a campaign to promote volunteering in the local community.
• Developing a clinic animation program in the local Children’s hospital.
• Planning and implementing road safety presentations in local schools. Also the road safety lesson could be complemented by multicultural education presentations.
