Resumo: With this project, we fight for social inclusion of young people in risk of social exclusion in our town through non-formal training activities, as well as leisure activities, promoting comradeship, education in values and that the different collectives each other. Aim: create a meeting, dialogue, leisure, alternative space for young people apart from the local social life by offering attractive training activities about human rights, like leisure activities, and other alternatives to the regular activities. The collectives in a higher risk of exclusion are those formed by migrants due to the large number of them living in the city. Thus, our project has an important education for interculturality with the aim of avoiding cultural ghettos and promoting relationships between individuals and groups from different places. Our main aim is to fight the difficulties of recently arrived migrants, offering them leisure activities which enable them to know their new environment and relate with local young people. We also let them know about the possibilities of the YiA Programme and its actions and we guide them to participate in it. Another motivation are the migrant children in the city with educational barriers. We give them school support with the project. We also work with their parents. We also want to offer a varied programme of activities complementing those ones offered by the City Council.
Perfil: attitude is more important than skills or knowledge. Motivation to dedicate seriously and continuously to the project activities is very important. Commitment and involvement of volunteers ensures the positive development of the project and the effectiveness of our activities, both for users as for volunteers. Responsibility and adaptation skills are also important.
o Ability to adapt to a new culture and customs, as well as ability for adaptation in a multicultural are an asset, as this will be the working environment. Entrepreneurship and lack of cultural prejudices are also an asset. Previous interest shown form social topics is also positive. Another thing that we taking into account is the volunteer's capacity to take decisions, develops ideas and enthusiasm to participate in the proposed activities and a great dedication to his/her work.
Age: 18 until 30 Years old
Tarefas: The present plan of the work activities is taking place in the annual framework. The activities down described are constantly developed. The volunteers can always collaborate in any of these activities, considering their preferences and learning needs.
Presently the Association has the following activities:
At an international level we participate in a project to support and train migrants, in YiA actions and providing information about other EU mobility programmes (Erasmus, Leonardo Da Vinci, Grundtvig, YiA, Socrates, etc).
At a local level we provide legal, working and academic guidance, Spanish language classes for migrants, English language classes, school support, workshops about human rights, promotion of volunteering, training courses and services, promotion of reading, poetry and music, etc.
a) MOBILITY SERVICE and INTERNATIONAL TRAININGS, with aim of promoting the mobility of the young people and other workers in the youth field , participating in courses and seminaries, as well as organising groups of young people to do youth exchanges with youth from other countries. Up to date, the Association has sent abroad more than 300 young people from the city to participate in different youth programmes we work with: Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Grundtvig, etc. carrying out different courses, forums, seminars and volunteering programmes.
Volunteers will have a varied role, as we expect them to collaborate with the organisation of the activities and support them. This will make their contact with the local community easier, as well as the awareness about migrations. Below we talk about the thematic blocks we deal with. Volunteers will act as collaborators, not employees. They decide the activities they participate in and if they want to create a new one, matching our aims and philosophy. We will provide all the resources at our hand to carry out the activities they consider interesting.
The type of activities and thematic blocks for volunteers are listed below. We require the support and collaboration of 2 EVS volunteers in each of them:
1. Raising awareness:
Activities about discrimination, human rights, immigration, equal opportunities and gender violence. We carry out these activities in the projects AULA HUMANA, MEDIA and VOLUNTAS, in secondary schools of the city, as non-formal education activities (talks, workshops, meetings, common living and training seminars). The Living Library is another awareness activity.
2. TRAINING:
-Collaboration in training activities for issues related with prevention of racism and xenophobia, as well as management of youth European projects, and projects in the field of Human rights. These courses usually are residential and usually mean a lot of work, not only because of the training aspects, but also because of the logistic and other practical aspects. Training of volunteers is related to the projects Brújula, Alca, Voluntas and training courses given by experts in our organisation.
3. Information and dissemination of the YiA Programme:
Collaboration in dissemination and information activities about the Youth in Action Programme in secondary schools, as well as in different youth organisations and groups, where the activity of the volunteers focuses on showing the programme to young people (their experience, what YiA is, its advantages,...).
Collaboration activities with the development and guidance to youth groups about the organisation and youth exchanges.
4. Punctual collaboration with other NGOs:
Activities for direct support to immigrants in collaboration with other NGOs from the municipality, like Cáritas, Murcia Acoge and the Red Cross, in those very particular occasions where it is required our presence and help and whenever volunteers can contribute with their work and are willing to do so. They will be informed about these cases with time. This is based on comradeship and the collaboration between the NGOs of the municipality, and usually takes place when we are asked to help because their services are overflowed or because it is some type of festival or fair where we can talk about our activities.
5. Organisation of seminars and youth exchanges:
-Collaboration organising young exchanges at European level with other youth associations that wish to participate in transnational youth projects.
-Collaboration with the organisation of intercultural meetings and youth meetings at a national or local level.
-Collaboration with the organisation of Spanish classes for migrants and other foreigners.
6. Publications:
