Resumo: The activites of voluntary service take place in the Eastern Sicily, a region that can offer a lot from the cultural point of view because it expresses an example of cohabitation of different cultures and traditions.

Unfortunately, the road system in Sicily reflects a heavy framework of ongoing delays and inefficiencies in the work of modernizing and developing the infrastructure network putting the region in a state of real geographic isolation and extreme difficulties in ensuring mobility to people and economic subjects. This causes an increasing impoverishment of economic conditions and a new flow of young migrants who leave in order to seek a possibility of more dignified life.
The association realizes its activities in the areas of city centre of the town.

They are boroughs important from the historical, artistic and cultural point of view, even if they have problems of emargination and uneasiness, especially among the youth. Actually young people often abandon school and have problems in finding a job. The social and economical context can easily cause troubles and emargination.

By participating to the daily activities of the organization, the volunteer will also have the possibility, according to his aptitudes, to acquire competences in the field of ethnic gastronomy, in the ogranization of events, in the drama and literary field, in the pedagogic field working with children, in the mediation and solution of problems and troubles related to the youth such as violence, bullism, legalty and free time, informatics and accounting administration.

The volunteer acquires instruments, competences and knowledge that will help him after to enter the world of job and to live his own citizenship in a more conscious and participative way.
The volunteers will be accommodated in an apartment that is located in the center of the city equipped with every comfort, services, a fully equipped kitchen with everything they need, a lounge for socializing, internet, television.

The association with its activities has conquered an important role in the town, most of all thanks to the work of Italian volunteers and EVS and has established in these years good relations with the local community, the school and the university promoting a cultural and social development.

Perfil: The volunteers that we want to involve in our association are young people aged 18 until 30 years old, female. Unfortunately we can’t host volunteers with motor disability, because we don’t have the appropriate infrastructures to accomodate and support them.

We would like to host motivated and dynamic people ,full of energy and enthusiasm who want to participate actively in all activities, cooperate and socialize with other people.The choice of such dedicated and willing people will determine the full success of our projects.
The projects will be published online on our website and on the network most frequented by young people. For the recruitment of volunteers we will also use the good contacts made over the years with other accredited organizations.

Tarefas: Volunteers will have the opportunity to choose, depending on their attitudes, in which daily activities they will stay side by side the operators of the association. The activities are numerous and of different types: manual, intellectual, informational, artistic and administrative so that the volunteer will have the opportunity to make a non repetitive service and choose which are the sectors that are more suited to their attitudes.

The association pursues the uthopy of the construction of a multicultural society, a little multiethnic world (Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Arab, German people and various religions and thoughts: Catholic, Muslim, Agnostic, Sufi, Buddhist) where people are occupied in what they are able to do and not becuse of the place they come from. In our little world the word “tolerance” is abolished and replaced by the word “respect”, the word “assistance” has been replaced by the word “protagonism”. The European volunteers will have the opportunity to do an experience of interculture and respect for the cultural diversity.
The European volunteers, side by side with the operators in the daily work and through the non-formal learning will be able to develop:
1. competences for their personal, laboral and educational development through the drama, gastronomic, literary activities as well as foreign languages and dances;
2. pedogogic abilities through their work with children and young people;
3. knowledge in the preparation of artistic events deepening their abilities in projecting and organizing and learning to manage economical and human resources to reach the aims in a better way;
linguistic abilities in the study of the Italian language and, if they want to, of another language.

Horário: From Monday to Friday

9-10 a.m. Organization of daily activities, contact with the intercultural operators to obtain information and formation about the tasks, meeting with the tutor;

10-12.30 a.m. Management of the library (cataloguing, loan of books, on-line searching of contacts for the acquisition of new books), gastronomic lab, legal information and SVE window, Italian lessons, development of the programmed activities with the preparation of leaflets to promote events, courses, recreational activities;
a) 6.30-9.30 p.m. Recreational and artistic activities: animation for children, readings and “interpretation”, multiethnic parties, tea room, film and documentary showings, dance courses.
