Resumo: "The voluntary work takes place in the kindergarten of Municipality of Xylokastro. In our school can participate children in between 2- 5 years old. Our motivation to host EVS volunteers is the support and help in the every day work of the kindergarten. This includes helping in the fine-art workshop, painting lessons, theatrical workshop, playing games with the children, join trips, excursions and helping in the kitchen of the kindergarten. The volunteers will assist the staff in the daily childcare and organise his/her own small project depending ïç his/her skills and ideas (e.g. music, handicratt, theatre, games etc). Á further important aspect of the project is to give the volunteer the opportunity to put into the practice his/her ideas and to reflect upon this with experienced staff of our school. Our main aims are the introduction of new activities taken by the volunteers for the daily life of the children, the promotion and contact with new cultures, especially from the volunteer origin, moreover to develop the artistic abilities of the children and to help the teachers in their activities.
1. Participating at the fine-art workshop (the volunteers will work in the field of handcratt using materials such as pastel, paper, different kind of nuts, collage, clay...etc. and they will help to make constructions. The staff of the school welcome new ideas and initiatives from the volunteers)
2. Taking part and help in the painting lessons (the volunteers will help the children to use pencil, water- color. This lesson has
the goal to prepare the children for writing, to give the motion of writing in their hands áðd fingers.)
3. Theatrical workshop (they will help to organize theatrical games from fairy tales, puppet shows, they can give their ideas for
the best materialization of the performance)
4. Music- kinetic workshop (the volunteers will help the staff to realize games in order to develop the motion culture of the children.)
5. Games with the children (these games are organized by the teachers and the volunteers and have the role of non-formal learning experiences and acquire everyday attitudes by processing situations taken from the everyday life appropriated to the child's age.)
6. Take part in trips, excursions (these trips and excursions are leaded in ôïï, theatre)
7.Helping in the kitchen of the kindergarfen (this task includes helping to share the breakfast and the lunch for the kids)
8. The volunteers will participate in the work of the Youth Information office in Xylokastro, which provides information about the Youth in Action Program. The volunteers with the staff will give information about the Program, make the voluntary service more attractive for the Greek youngsters giving live example with their participation.
Our goal is to develop the international understanding of the children, we would like to give them the ùáã of thinking from this early age when they can adopt ðeù things easier that they can cooperate and communicate with people from other countries by overcoming language difficulties and cultural differences. Éç this ùáã we can fight against racism, xenophobia and discrimination. We would like to encourage the volunteers to come õñ with ideas and carry out in cooperation with the staff of the school for the benefit of the children, the teachers as well as the volunteers themselves and we would appreciate if the volunteers brought games, music, short movies, pictures from their countries, about their countries.
The volunteers will work eveç day (Monday to Friday) from 8:00 to 14:00. During the voluntary service the volunteers have twelve days vacation that should be matched to the vacation timetable of the kindergarten, and the Saturdays áðd Sundays are free as well.
The tasks for each volunteer will be adjusted to his/her personal abilities and needs. We would like to stress that none of the tasks can be seen as employment substitution, moreover we would like to stress the importance of giving ideas, taking initiatives by the volunteer. The host and the coordinating organization is open for new ideas and support the initiatives.
Heip at home proIect
Help at home' is á social service program that aims to provide organized and systematic support to elderly and people with special needs
The profile of the program is like the 'home care' of UK and the Scandinavian countries by giving á ðeù form of social care of the citizens
We provide advice áðd psychological support to elderly, nursing, housekeeping support, company, shopping, paying bills, medical support and other services
These services are provided with regular visits in the home of the elderly according to their needs The program addressed in particular elderly people and people with special needs with priorities:
• they cannot support themselves totally
• They need special treatment
• they live lonely and isolated
• they don't have enough economical sources
The main goal of `Help at home' program is that these people to be able to stay in their everyday life in their environment and to increase their quality of life.
We are absolutely convinced that especially the work of volunteers makes áç important contribution to public efforts for the solution of problems of socially discriminated áðd disabled people.
We aim the volunteer and our patients to learn from each other, to get á mutual enrichment, in the same time to build bridges between the ãïõðg and the former generation, and between nationalities, cultures and to develop the volunteers' understanding of different cultures and situations, which takes to á personal growth of the volunteers themselves.
Our objective is ðït ïçÉã to help the staff but also to enrich the life of the elderly people, who are often lonely, develop the work through the volunteer's different perspective, to develop áç intercultural dialogue and tolerance, to make the youngsters responsible for other people.
Furthermore the volunteers will receive knowledge and skills in the social field, which they could eventually use in the future in á professional ùáã. The EVS ãïõðg volunteers will be encouraged to get nearer the old people's world and share the experiences of living in uncomfortable situations thus growing and devefoping their ïùç capabilities in listening and taking care of the elderly people. The volunteers will have experience in practice how to show solidarity with other people through their helping and assisting the elderly in áÉÉ practical tasks. Á social, cultural and á personal process of learning will give the volunteer the opportunity to see their ïùç situation in á new perspective. Through the service the volunteers will get to know both the national characteristics of care system and the common European values. For these elderly people the value of the solidarity, the respect, the taking care is more significant in their life than for
other people.
The host organisation gives special support for volunteer through the supervisor, to encourage the volunteers by developing
of ïùç project and continual support of volunteer during the project.
From the staff the volunteers will get á high standard support and training, they will prepare them for the activities, tasks. The volunteers will follow training courses with the social worker about how to support and work with disadvantaged elderly, and people with special needs. The assistants give supporf to their work in the home of the elderly people. The volunteers will work in teams with the staff and the local volunteers. Éð order to facilitate their work and integration, volunteers will have áç obligatory Greek language course from the beginning of their voluntary service by á private teacher (50 hours).
The tasks for each volunteer will be adjusted to his personal abilities and needs. We would like to stress that none of the tasks can be seen as employment substitution.
The volunteers will be taken by car of the organization to the elderly people's house. The detailed tasks of the volunteers are:
1. The volunteers will help the social worker in checking the elderly people's living conditions (they will visit them and check their economy conditions, how they eat, if they need something for their eveçday life, their living standard if it is right, or they don't have anything from the first needs, assess their problems, and tç to solve them etc.)
2. The volunteers will follow training courses about how to support and work with disadvantaged elderly, and people with special needs.
3. The volunteers will help in the assistants' work (the role of the volunteer consist of supporting the assistants in the carçing out of the services, bringing the food for the elderly people, if it's necessary cooking, help in cleaning their home, dishing, washing their clothes, arrange their beddings, put new bedding, ironing, give them help if they are bedridden etc.)
4. The volunteers will participate in the work of the Youth Information office in Velo, which provides information about the Youth in Action Program. The volunteers with the staff will give information about the Youth ßð Action Program, make the voluntary service more attractive for the Greek youngsters giving live example with their participation.
5.The volunteers will support the activities in the club of elderly (KAPI).
Centre of creative work with children
The voluntary work placement will be in the Centre of Creative Working with Children . Éç our Center can be participated children in between 5-12 years old. Our Centre employs four educated, specialized employees (á nurseryschool teacher, á specialist for creative working with children, á theatrical pedagogue and á music pedagogue) who are responsible for the workshops, and they will give every support for the volunteers what they need. Éç our value has á big role to create áç environment where qualified experienced staff can develop themselves and continuously give their best pertormance in the classroom and develop in children the knowledge, skills, attitudes and concepts in key learning areas.
Our goal is to provide learning experiences that are appropriate to á child's age, learning readiness, stage of development and level of maturity. Our target group are children aged between 5-12 years old that we would like to give á high standard care and at the same time to give á learning experience with several workshops that the children can take part in such as handcraft, painting lessons, theatrical games, music workshops, moreover we go for excursions, trips.
1. The volunteers will participate in the theatrical workshop/theatrical games (they will help to organize theatrical games with puppets, shadow ñÉáã, help in organizing the stage, give ideas in directing in cooperation with the teacher, pantomim, extemporization, dramatization of fairy tale etc.)
2. Help in the fine-art workshop (the volunteers will work ïç the field of handcraft, to use different kind of materials such as clay, lime etc., they will help the children to make constractions, collages, paintings etc.)
3. The volunteers will participate in the music-kinetic workshop (they will organize music-kinetic games, sound stories, singing, playing ïç musical instruments, using the equipments of multimedia such as CD, video, television, slides)
4. Out of the workshops, in the free time of the daily schedule the volunteers will look after the children (table games, see movies, listen music, slides. The volunteers will have opportunity and we would like them to bring international touch in their activities with the children: singing songs mainly from their countç, in their language, ñÉáã games typical from his/her country)
5. The volunteers will participate in the outdoor activities like sport events, excursions, museums etc.
6. The volunteers will organize cultural events, activities with the staff and the children like theatre, prose (poems, monolouges etc.), chorus.
7. They will help the. children to use the computer in basic programs and to be involved in the world of the new technology.
8. The volunteers will make presentations,leaflets about our Center and our activities in cooperation with the staff, highlighting the values of our work.
9. The volunteers will participate in the work of the Information office in Xylokastro, which provides information about the Youth in Action Program. The volunteers with the staff make the voluntary service more attractive for the Greek youngsters giving live example with their participation.
The Center of Creative Working with Children is opened in á different schedule according to the season. Éç summer the Center is opened from 8:30-14:30, the winter from 14:00-20:00. Ïç this ùáã the timetabJe of the volunteers will be different in summer and in winter.

Tarefas: "Description of the tasks of the volunteers:
1. Protection of the forest (the volunteers will take care of the natural forest of Xylokastro. They will take care of the regular watering of the trees, in particular the new trees, which need more and systematic watering. The volunteers will take care of the cleanness of the walking road of the forest; rake the leaves, twigs, cones from that.
Moreover the volunteers will take care of the health of the trees; they will cut the branches, twigs.)
2. Protection of the coast of Xylokastro (the volunteers will take care of the coast beside the forest from the
damaging and the human threats like pour out oil to the sea, or ïç the coast, throw out the rubish...etc.)
3. The volunteers will participate in planting trees in the forest (the fire caused big damage in the forest, for this reason there is needed to plant new trees in the empty places. ÁÉÉ the equipments, tools, new plants
and special guidance are provided by the municipality of Xylokastro.)
4. The volunteers will help making new and repairing the old footpath in the forest (the volunteers will be
trained how to build and repair the footpath. The tools and the materials for this task will be provided.)
5. they will participate to repair the benches, tables, metal and wooden fences in the forest and ïç the coast. 6. The volunteers will participate in the work of the Information office in Xylokastro, which provides
information about the Youth in action Program. The volunteers with the staff will give information about
the Youth in action Program, make the voluntary service more attractive for the Greek youngsters giving
live example with their participation.
