Resumo: The host organization os located in a town that has a population of more than 1 million inhabitants.. It is a political, economic, administrative, cultural and historical centre of the Czech Republic situated in a valley along the both sides of the river. The city offers not only many cultural and sport opportunities indoor, but its green parks, forests and hills invite for an outdoor trip to nature. Many interesting historical sights are to be visited in the close surroundings and for those who are interested in exploring the whole republic: it takes only four-six hours to get from the west to east corner.
The city is a very international city with many foreigners living there for a shorter and longer term and that is why many services are available to non-Czech speakers, so everyone with a basic knowledge of English can usually move around easily. The city is safe for a European city and the mentor and staff members in the office help the volunteer to grasp all the aspects of daily life in the city in the duration of the project.
The city has a very good and punctual system of public transport, working both day and night. The volunteer will receive a yearly public transport card valid in metro, buses and trams and will be informed how to use the public transport – s/he will receive a map and will be shown tools such journey planner (dpp.cz)
The city offers affordable opportunities for free time activities basically for everyone. There are many sport clubs, swimming pools, fitness and yoga centres. The city has many accessible and affordable cinemas, theatres, art galleries. There are many art festivals happening in the city all-year long. There are also many NGOs offering interesting activities for volunteers willing to spend their free time giving a helping hand to the local community they will become part of during the project – for instance mini workcamps of the member organization, or environmental education activities organized.
Perfil: Age: 18 until 30 years old
Tarefas: Among other issues the organization has been working in the fields of non–formal education, youth participation and youth policy, children’ s rights, equality and fair opportunities, attractive youth work, training, support to its member and partner organisations. The organization has approximately 120 000 individual members in 19 European countries.
