Resumo: Basically the project will take place in a suburban area. This suburban area is full of block houses and volunteer will work in the youth house, where are around 30 kids coming every evening. The town is the center with 83 500 inhabitants. Unemployment in the town has been very high, but it is coming down quite rapidly.

Our town is famous of its international jazz festival and our sport teams, especially in ice hockey. The city is rather industrial town, but we have also our own university center. Our organisation has got lots of good connections to different organisations to co-operate with. This will help volunteers to work in their project.

Perfil: Volunteer’s age is between 18 and 30.

Tarefas: Role of the EVS volunteers will be person, who will give us new ideas to work for the benefit of migrant youth. Aims of the organisation are to create tolerate society and to work for the benefit of youth. That is why we want to be active in this field.
Volunteers will also implement the activities together with our activists. The basic point is to improve possibilities for migrant youth to attend in activities of local youth houses & youth organisations. Right now situation is, that migrant youth are separated from local Finnish youth. Integration to local society goes easier through participation in local activities.

Firstly in our youth house in the area volunteers will implement twice a week multicultural evening together with local migrants’ organisation. Secondly volunteers will participate in the work of Red Cross’es activity group for refugees. Thirdly volunteers will co-operate with local children’s clubs to promote internationalism and tolerance. Fourthly volunteers will collect information from migrants about reasons, why they have come to Finland and what should surrounding society to do to integrate migrants to local society; this information will also be disseminated through our website and with co-operating websites. Fifthly volunteers will make puppet theatre about Fair Trade and anti-racism. Sixthly volunteers will implement anti-racist poster exhibition and give lectures about anti-racism in the schools. Project is anti-racist; that is why cultural diversity is also in the core of our actions. From that comes also the title of the project: Multiculturalism is beautiful!
We offer volunteer possibility to learn team, organisational skills and opportunity to learn Finnish and English language.
We would like to receive volunteers without prejudices, ready to work for benefit of organisation & migrant youth and with idea to make world better for everyone. Our volunteer is ready to work also autonomously and is not afraid of challenges.
