Resumo: The cooperative is situated in a city that has a strong tie with it’s rural traditions but also has a lively cultural life stimulated by the numerous university students. The city’s economics is based on the service sector, small industries and agriculture.
The volunteers will carry out their service in two of the sheltered workshops it will be asked from the volunteers to adjust themselves to the regulations of the centre and to participate actively in the working as well as creative activities. They should have respect for the contest, they should be punctual, give notice in case of absence, participate in festivities, trips and they will be given a chance to take advantage of the flexible schedule during the holidays (from 24 December to 7 January; from 1 to 31 August; during Easter).
The volunteers should adapt themselves to the environment of the daily activities connected to taking care of the users as well as the other activities.
The volunteers will participate in the activities of the two sheltered workshops described above and held by the cooperative. Their main role will be to support the educators and operators in planning, organizing, and realizing the activities meant for the users. From one side, the volunteers will be asked to offer help in normal and everyday working actions, on the other side they will be able to plan and realize recreational activities.
Perfil: It would be very important if the volunteers had previous voluntary experience in the sector but in every case the ultimate decision will be mainly based on the motivation and interest to work with mental or fisical disabilities. It is prefered that the volunteers have interest in our organization and are 20/21 years old.
Besides the basic requierments the volunteers will be expected to have relational competences, the capacity to work with disabled people, ideas for new activities and creativness. It is also important to have a certain degree of flexibility and willingness to participate in the various activities organized by the cooperation (including the activities that take place after the working hours, for example the evening activities).
Tarefas: In specific, as far as the working activities are concerned, the volunteers can:
promote the learning of working process;
promote the learning of individual working tasks;
gain experience in the tasks that can be found in the specific workshops of the cooperative (for example carpentry etc);
participate in the training sessions (such as informatics, usage of the tools in the offices etc);
visit the firm that supply the work to the cooperative;
prepare the deliveries to the clients.
As for the recreational activities, the volunteers tasks together with the operators (who are always by his/her side, assisting the volunteer) will be :
the manipulating end creative activities (the volunteer can also suggest new techincs);
working in the kitchen;
animative activities in groups and sport activities;
going through the autonomic actions : taking care of oneself, exercising, using public transport, knowing the public services and offices (banks, shops, post office);
helping the users when they exit from the territory.
Other than that, together with the operators, the volunteer will accompany the users to the sporting events, dance classes, singing lessons, theater activities and group trips.
The volunteer can participate in team reunions, observe them and bring his/her own ideas to how to develop and renew the activities.
Horário: The volunteer will be in service every day from Monday to Friday. His/her working hours will be as following: from 8.30- 16.30 from Monday to Thursday and 8.30-12.30 on Fridays.
