Resumo: MWith its 566.447 population in January 2008, the city is one of the largest cities with its population in Spain and the largest then the capital of the autonomous community.
The scopes in which we work out our activities of volunterring are in the Hospital and in the Foundation, bothe of them are situated in the city.
Volunterring activities will be centered specially on the following projects:
- Volunteriing is carried out in the Hospital. The project consists in the loan seNice of books to the childs, which are hospitalized in the Hospital, by this way all this childs will have appropriate reading material for her/his age and likes, also they will have a possiblity of counting on the atteandance and support of the volunteers to encourage them to read, answer their questions and to guide them in their elections.
Other projects are:
- Spanish for immigrants. Personalized teaching of Spanish for adult immigrants residents in the city.
- Sending books to the various countries of Iberoamerica.
Collaboration with the libraries of the developing countries.
- Small libraries in the institutions, seNices or public places which permanently seNe to people which frequent this places.
- Resources about reading on the web. Unrestricted fund of online resources about reading, with texts, images and a selection of books, journals, virtual libraries, blogs and announcments.
Perfil: Recruitment will be done taking into account the needs of the Foundation and the profile of the candidates.
Requirements:
- Be legal resident in one of the EU countries
- Have, at least, 6 months for the EVS.
- Working abilities with immigrants and children.
- Working team skills and ability to be with other people.
- Age: 18 until 30 years old
We will establish a priority order with the received applications. The results will be published at the end of the process.
Tarefas: Our entity offers an European volunteer:
- Free language courses aimed at increasing the knowledge level spanish language and culture. The courses, 1 hour and half each, will be held twice a week by a qualified volunteer and both, the student and the volunteer will establish the most suitable schedule for courses.
- Gain experience in your areas of interest for future references. Working as a volunteer gives you the opportunity to develop abilities and gain experience to improve your future applications for a job. It increases your options on the job market and lets you try different types of works in order to choose what you like most.
- Learn new abilities. Working as a volunteer gives you the opportunity to discover yourself deeper. You will face new challenges, meet new people and find new perspectives and ways of life which would encourage you to reconsider your personal points of view of the world.
- Secure and comfortable working atmosphere. Both, at the Hospital and the Foundation the atmosphere is very comfortable with access to all the equipments necessary for work. Besides, both places are secure.
Our entity expects the volunteer to perform the following activities within the Foundation:
- Volunteering at the Mother and Hospital in the project "Get healthy with the books". This activity takes place twice a week: Mondays and Thursdays from 4: 15pm till 6:30pm. It consists of entering every room on the fifth floor of the hospital and encourage kids to read a tale. Apart from the volunteer, there will always be a responsable person for coordination of the volunteering activity and will help and guide the exchange volunteer in everything she/he needs.
- Assistance and collaboration in the Spanish volunteering for immigrants. We have students and professors involved in the spanish language courses at the Foundation during the whole week and for that, we need all the materials to be always arranged and help in every necessity that may arise both from the students as well as professors.
- Organization of materials of documentations of the Foundation both, digitals and printed. The Foundation has many digital and printed materials: books, magazines, encyclopedias and documents that need to be arranged and classified either by alphabetical or thematic order.
- In the project "Books for the World" we need to organize, classify and arrange the books that are sent, as well as to pack and transport. We receive donations of books on a regular basis which we put together to give them away to different social organisms due to which, besides of what we have, we need to make a selection if they are in good conditions, as well as to classify by themes and prepare them for use in its destination place.
- Helping in updating the Foundation's web-page on a regular basis. It includes the following: Consulting and responding the institutional mail; revision of the texts and images on the web-site; new content translation and data update.
-Collaboration in the project. The volunteer will take part in the following activities: selection and classification of the donated books; elaboration of lots to provide each of the mini libraries; installation of every mini library and coordination with the responsible persons of the project entities to track the use of each mini library.
The foreigner volunteer will always be accompanied by the people working at the Foundation to guide and help her/him in every activity she/he might realize.
