Resumo: The host organization is situated in the small rural municipality. That is where the nearest railway station and airport, that provide connections to both Northern and Southern parts of Finland, are located. The population is just over 10'000. Then again, the village is the home of around 1'800 people. The School is located in the centre of the village, which means that the shops, banks, post office and the library are easily accessible. Connections from this rural location to the outside world are, however, well-established through a fast internet connection, which is installed in the school.

The School has its own horse stable, swimming pools and other facilities for physical exercise. Such a variety of facilities provides the volunteers with a good possibility: to understand different aspects of Finnish care and specialized training of disabled people; to gain experience of working with disabled people; and to experience the atmosphere of a boarding school located rurally.

The volunteer will be living in the dormitory apartments of the school with own bedroom. The kitchen, toilet and shower facilities are shared with another person. It is possible to cook own meals or to eat meals at the school.

Perfil: Motivation to work with people with special needs. Good social skills and open attitude. Willingness to live in a small village on the country side.
Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The main task of the volunteers is to interact with the special needs students during their lessons and leisure time, as well as to help them in their daily routines. The volunteers can also organize free-time activities for the mentally disabled students. Helping the kitchen staff also belongs to the tasks of the volunteers. Volunteers live in an apartment.
