Tarefas: We can offer an opportunity to learn how to work with children, how to be creative and open-minded. A volunteer can develop his/her own ideas about a program with children. It is possible to make a unique afternoon program for children. So our organisation is an ideal environment, where creativity, independence and work with children abilities can be developed. Many children come only to talk with librarians, so it will be also a good oportunity to improve communication skills.
The main line of activities in which the volunteer can participate is focused on children and teenagers. One of the main activities will be to lead meetings and workshops about volunter´s home country (about people, habits, culture, music, food, literature etc.). The role of the volunteer is to prepare a program for schools (preferable about the home country). Of course, the volunteer can suggest his/her own program. We would like to offer program about Europe from a different point of view.
The volunteer can be involved in activities like making a tournament for children (logic games, sports etc.), afternoon programs such as making a detective story for children, The haloween night in the library, or making Christmas presents for parents. We want to motivate children to be active, so the program depends only on our fantasy and creativity.
The volunteer could also improve an afternoon program for young visitors. In this program games, chats, workshops, or tournaments can be included. The volunteer can teach children games, which are typical for his/her country. There are courses concerning computers, photography etc. in the library, so later the volunteer can also create some other courses that depend of his/her own abilities.
He/she can also present volunteer´s home country with focus on the public. It should be series of exhibitions about his/her home country or culture, presentations and talks.
The volunteer can also join common library activities like lending books or helping users to find books. It will be welcommed because we expect a feedback and inspiration how to improve our daily routine.
