Resumo: The people respect their traditions and charms with its famous and phenomenal hospitality. The town has long been the crossroads of the world, not only an important stop on the silk trail, but set dead-centre of many of the great currents of history. A truly ancient nation and one of the world oldest uninterrupted civilizations, its recorded history stretches back over 3000 years. Filled with ancient ruins, castles, churches, waterfalls, glaciers, mineral water springs, deserts and beaches, forests and steppes, it is truly a land apart. Georgia natural environment is one of the most unique and varied in the world. Within 67,000 square kilometres you can find 5000 metre peaks; glaciers, alpine meadows; sub-tropical coastline, high desert, semi-desert, fertile alluvial valleys, wetlands and of course huge swathes of virgin forest. Indeed nearly 40% of Georgia is still forest, a large proportion of which is still virgin.
The organization is based in one of the biggest cities (approximately 116 000 residents). Unfortunately youth life - and generally youth inclusion and development -has lack of opportunities. There are just 2-3 youth organisations in the city activities of which are focused on youth. Also economical and social situation in the city is not good and a big lack of non-formal education and educative programs of international standards exists. If you like sport and active lifestyle, in city is couple of football and rugby stadiums and bike roads. No matter that the city is the third biggest city of Georgia and not far from the capital city, local community is cosy and life runs calm. People are very hospitable and open-minded. In the city there are a lot of restaurants, cafeterias, theatres and beautiful, wild parks. But unfortunately a lot of youth-related problems exist here. There is a lack of youth educational and entertainment centres in the city, which could make it possible for local youngsters to have an additional source for gaining informal and non-formal education. Only a very limited number of young people are socially active due to their involvement in the projects and programmes initiated by the local non- governmental youth organizations. But youngsters want to be creative and they are searching for self-realization opportunities.
