Resumo: This project is focusing on education, on the ‘idea of Europe’ and on the promotion of the organization ideas. Within the common framework of the educational service of the organization, young volunteers will promote and facilitate pedagogical activities, which are playful and fun (approx. 7000 students per school year). The goal of these activities is the awareness of young people to some European issues and new challenges for the EU. One of our main mission is also to encourage further active participation in the European democratic process.

In cooperation with professional animators of the organization, the European volunteers should put into pratice the methods and techniques of informal teaching to allow young people ‘to learn Europe in another way’. These workshops are designed like games: a giant puzzle of the European Union, a european rallye, a memory of Europe, a European lotto, a Euromind…

It is very important that the volunteer’s role will be that of a “volunteer” in the organisation. EVS is not a holiday, a job, an internship, an opportunity to learn a language that is simply paid by the European Commission.

Perfil: In general we are looking for a volunteer who shows a sense of initiative, who is creative, has inter-personal skills, is open-minded, sociable and flexible. He or she should have the ability to adapt in a new environment and be eager to learn. We are looking for somebody who is willing to do long-term volunteering. We choose for a long period consciously because we like the volunteer to have the time to get really involved into the program. That will make the whole experience more sustainable, both for the volunteer and the host organisation.

Knowing french and/or german is a real plus. There are however no specific skills required. The most important aspect for our organisation is the general motivation and enthousiasm the volunteer expresses concerning the work with young people about Europe. Volunteers will receive the necessary training and coaching to acquire the necessary skills during the EVS.
Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The volunteer is expected to take an active part in the everyday life of the organisation, helping in all aspects of its development. The main activities of the volunteer will be: Running educational and funny activities for Europeans – children and adults: huge puzzle of the European Union, European rally, European Memory, European lottery… (At the moment, those activities are run by students who are doing a work experience in the organization, they are not run by employees). All those activities include the installation of the equipment and the tidying up when the activities are over. It represents 1/3 of the project. The development and the creation of new teaching material according to the European Union’s topicality. The volunteer will have to follow the European Union’s news to create educational modules in order to increase the public awareness. Work with the computer and if necessary, with enterprises for the printing or the production of games. This activity represents 1/3 of the project.

The development of the activity of the educational service, including searching new publics: public relations, relations with the local and regional press, elderly persons’ associations, the houses of culture and youth, summer camps… This activity represents 1/3 of the project.
