Resumo: The project environment will be Vorarlberg, the westernmost province of Austria. Although it is the second smallest in terms of area and population, it borders three countries: Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The only Austrian province that shares a border with Vorarlberg is Tyrol to the east.
The EVS volunteer will mostly work in the office in the town. But s/he will work also outside of the office when s/he works in workshops or on other tasks around the Catholic youth work.
As the largest city in Vorarlberg, the town is an important cultural, commercial and shopping centre. It is also a crossroads of means of public transport.
There are lots of possibilities for young people (going out, culture events, sports possibilities, shopping and so on).
Perfil: The volunteer should be open for the concerns of the Catholic Church but does not have to be a member of the Church. She/He should like to work with children and young people and should be creative. Basic knowledge of German would be advantageous but is not necessary for the work with children and youngsters. She/He should be reliable. It would make things easier if the volunteer had a driving licence but this is not necessary.
When the Hosting Organisation looks for a new volunteer it will work in close cooperation with the Coordinating Organisation. The Coordinating Organisation will promote the vacancy on platforms and with partners of previous projects. Applications are collected and sent to the Hosting Organisation which takes the final decision involving the team.
If the volunteer selected is still motivatied and free to come to Austrian and do his/her EVS in the project the Coordinating Organisation will apply on the following deadline to the Austrian NA.
After the application is approved the Coordinating Organisation will organise the journey and the stay of the volunteer together with the Hosting and Sending Organisation.
Hosting and Coordinating Organisation are prepared to work with any Sending Organisation.
Tarefas: The volunteer in our organisation will get an insight into Catholic youth work in Vorarlberg and more general in Austria. He/she will learn a lot about working in a team and working on her/his own. Moreover she/he will gather skills of planning, running and evaluating projects. The volunteer will develop many creative skills as creative activities and workshops are major parts of the project. On the other hand our organisation will profit from the new ideas and the special skills which the volunteer brings in this project. Generally the volunteer will learn about the Austrian culture and EVS will therefore help to reduce prejudices and stereotypes.
- Events: The main part of the volunteer's tasks is to participate in preparing and organising the various activities organised by the Catholic youth organisation of Vorarlberg for the whole region: summer camps in Vorarlberg and abroad, creative events for children and young people, trainings for young people in various fields (communication, personality development, etc.), events throughout the year (e.g. for Christmas and Easter). The volunteer helps to organise the programme, leads workshops if she/he wants, helps in public relations etc.
- Projects: The second field of activities is the assistance with projects that we do along the year: camps, weekend-workshops for apprentices, music events, artistic workshops (painting, music), youth exchanges.
The volunteer will mainly be seen as support to the whole team in various projects and events run by our organisation. He/she will be involved in the whole planning, running and evaluating process.
Moreover the volunteer will have the chance to create his/her own project. Examples for such projects which have been done by volunteers at our organisation are a game afternoon for kids, another volunteer designed a map with different games for children with pictures and explanations, another possibility is to organise an intercultural evening.
We try to match activities for the volunteer with his/her own interests and strengths.
