Resumo: The city has 46.000 inhabitants. The town is one of the westernmost province of Austria, close to the borders to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany. It is famous for its Music festival in summer; various other events – also in the youth culture field – create a lively cultural scene. Since is a very mountainous region it offers excellent opportunities for skiing, hiking and other outdoor activities. The language is German, the local population speaks a German dialect.

The volunteer will most probably live in a small students’ residence hall about 15 minutes walk from our house in the town centre. He/She will have a room with bathroom and a fridge on his/her own. He / She will share a kitchen with other residents. The infrastructure with trains and buses is easy, quick and frequent. He/She will probably also have a bicycle at his/her disposal.

The volunteer will have the possibility to attend a German course organised by a professional training institution.
The team of the Hosting organisation and the “Junior Mentor” (a former EVS volunteer”) will help the volunteer to integrate into local community. The Coordinating Organisation aha will establish contacts among the volunteers.

Perfil: He/She should like to work with young people and should be interested in different youth cultures, music, night life and youth centre work. He/She should care for young people and be prepared to take the initiative to get in contact with them.
He/she should be flexible and be willing to take part in different kinds of projects.
Since our opening hours are mainly in the afternoons, evenings and on weekends he/she should be prepared to work late hours and work on weekends as well. Of course, he/she will not work every weekend and will have two consecutive days off during the week if working on the weekend.

We are open to work with any Sending Organisation. The Coordinating Organisation will publish vacancies on various platforms and among partner organisations and together with them we will consider all the applications we get. The decision which candidate we host will be taken by the team.

After choosen the volunteer there will be the first contact between him / her and me (our organisation) by e-mail or be phone.
Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The volunteer will be part of our team with about 40 persons. The areas that he/she can participate are
Kulturcafé Schlachthaus: Here he/she can help organise parties and youth culture events (concerts etc.) that take place about twice a week. He/She will learn to book concerts, organise everything around concerts (for example Gothic, Punk, Hardcore, EMO, Metal, Hip-Hop etc.), do the bar during different events, care for the bands, care for the young people that visit our house.
Youthcafé Vismut: Our visitors at the youthcafé Vismut are a little younger (13 – 16) and come to the centre for a chat with other youngsters or with the youth worker or for workshops (for example gardening, do handicrafts, dance, skateboarding). The volunteer will help with the workshops and in the café (bar, preparing snacks, cleaning etc.) The office in Vismut is open Monday to Friday in the morning. The workshops and youth cvafe will be in the afternoon.
Youthcafé Arena: Youth Café Arena is open every day in the afternoon or evening. One day it is reserved for “Girls only”. It also offers space to meet informally for a chat with friends. The focus of activities is sports: Tabletop football, billiards, basketball and skateboarding are sports that the visitors can do for example. There is a skateboarding rank nearby.
Youthcafe “Chill Out” in Höchst.

He/She can also participate in the activities that we organise in the course of the year, for example:
Youth Festival
Visit of Romanian dance group (April)
Anti Racism Days (April)
Environment Week (May)
Skateboarding rank opening
Volunteer’s Own Project: If the volunteer wants he/she can realise his/her own project in cooperation with the young people from Vismut. Since we offer a wide variety of activities he/she has a lot of possibilities to do so (sports workshop, creative workshop, antiracism project, project on his/her home country, concert with band from his/her home country, music workshop, cooking etc.). He/she will have all the support from the team that he/she needs.

Doing an EVS project with the volunteer will learn a lot about youth work and will get a practical insight into the various fields of youth work: leisure time activities, intercultural dialogue, employment, education + training in youth work. In the daily contact with the young people he/she will increase his/her social competences in establishing contacts and building relationships. Helping with projects or doing his/her own projects the volunteer will learn project management “by doing” and practice teamwork. He / she will get an insight into various youth cultures and will meet (young) people of different cultural origin.
