Resumo: Our club is located in the south of Sweden in a small town. The city has about 700 inhabitants. The city has its own school where about 60 students attend. In the center there is also a hub for trains to the major cities.

The city also borders the larger cities where the supply of the service is very good. The city har en egen biograf och även en egen badplats. Bland ungdomarna i klubben finns även ett stort fiske intresse som är lätt att utföra i någon av de närliggande sjöarna eller Emån. In the larger neighboring the community there are a lot of different shops and services such as banking, hairdresser and doctor's office. The volunteer will then stay in an apartment in the community. In the community there is also a big Youth centre that hosts volunteers.

Despite its small size, the community has an interesting and vibrant history. The municipality is very beautiful in a landscape dominated by forests, but there are also lakes, rivers, and arable land. We have many attractions, beautiful natural landscapes and multi-cultural environments to offer.

The volunteer should enjoy living on the countryside and a small, quiet town.

To avoid loneliness the volunteer will share an apartment together with volunteers for a neighboring project called Tegelbruket. The volunteer will share the apartment with 1 or 2 other volunteers. All having private bedrooms but sharing kitchen, livingroom and bathroom.

The volunteer will receive money for food and will prepare her/his own meals in the apartment. It is possible to re-heat food at the project.
For travel to and from work the volunteer will be offered a bike, during winter time a buss card will be arranged.

Perfil: We prefer that applicants have a sporting interest, especially in table tennis. We would like that the volunteer has some experience in playing table tennis.
Disability is no obstacle. We would like to cooperate with a sporting organization of some kind if it is possible.

We prefer that the volunteer has a great interest and some experience of playing table tennis. Is social in interaction with children and young people and willing to work with children and young people with disabilities. Innovative thinking and can lead children and young people and have a high level of personal maturity.

We will collect the applications we get and at a board meeting to go through these and then choose 4-5, during the selection process, even one or two youngsters from the club to be involved. Then we will interview three candidates via Skype or telephone. We are open to cooperation with sending organization but also organizations in table tennis.
Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: Service and learning opportunities

Our club is like a big family so we would like to welcome the volunteer to us. We have good cooperation with other organizations in the municipality where volunteering occurs.

We believe that a volunteer at our project is going to have a lot of learning opportunities.
As a volunteer in this project, you are going to have the opportunity to develop your own leadership skills, meet new cultures, get new ideas and knowledge and in this way strengthen oneself to develop his or her own initiative within the project.
When the volunteer goes back home he/she has numerous new abilities:
- Open-minded and tolerant vision
- Knowledge about the Swedish culture
- Swedish language
- Responsibility of showing the right example
- How to take one's own initiatives and to work in a group
- Leadership skills
The volunteer is going to have the opportunity to meet many new people and this will give the volunteer an opportunity of getting to know how the life is in a small town in Sweden. This will also get the volunteer a glimpse of the cultural life of the life in Sweden. At the same time we hope that the volunteer is going to show us how it is to come into our organisation with a different background and from a different culture. We know that having a volunteer within the organisation is going to give us new ideas on how to develop our work and it will give us new tools and new knowledge to work with.
We believe that the overall activities, cooperating with youth leaders that are very experienced, teachers and other people is very conducive and developing for the volunteer and for the volunteer's ideas and future plans.
We also hope that the volunteer is going to grow as an individual and learn more on how it is to cooperate with other people and how to develop their own ideas. We want the volunteer to come up with new ideas on how to teach table tennis to the children and let them develop their own ideas. For the work in the table tennis club the president of the club will be responsible for the volunteer support during the work activities.

Youthpass to support the learning process
To increase the quality in our project, we aim at implement Youthpass in our work. We want to use Youthpass both as a tool to make informal and non-formal learning of the volunteer clear during his/her stay in the project, and as a certificate of recognition of informal learning. We educate our mentors and people working with the volunteer in how to use Youthpass, and we are able to document our volunteers learning process in a concrete way.
The volunteer will study Swedish at SFI (Swedish for Immigrants).

The volunteer will have a mentor outside the organsiation. The mentor has around 7 years of experience of EVS, has worked with youth all his life and has an education as a youth leader. The mentor will support the volunteer with integrating into the community and also be an emotional support for the volunteers in times of need. The mentor works at the local youth center Tegelbruket.

The EVS volunteers role in the Host Organisation

The role of the volunteer at the table tennis club is:

* To help teach table tennis
* Give new insight
* Bring international influences
* Be an ambassador for Youth in Action
* We would like to volunteer to play table tennis for the club
* Advertise the club to the community
* Being a good role model
* Plan your own training sessions and for the kids.

The work is mostly arranged around teaching table tennis and supporting the kids in the club, but it is also about marketing table tennis, to be a role model and friend for the kids.

The volunteer will be fully supported by the staff at the club, but especially the president of the club, Patrik, who will support the volunteer in work related issues. Patrik has worked with youth and table tennis for many years and also has previous experience of working with volunteers.

Patrik will also support the volunteer in creating his/her own project. If the volunteer for some reason does not want to start a project of his/her own, Patrik together with the board of the club will find other tasks for the volunteer. This could be working close to the school and promoting table tennis there.

Typical activities/tasks for the volunteers

The working week will be 30-35 hours including Swedish lessons. Swedish lessons will take place during daytime.

Preliminary schedule:
Monday: Training from 17.30 to 20.00 divided into two groups (Preparation time 1 hour before and 1 hour after)
Thursday: Training from 17.30 to 20.00 divided into two groups
(Preparation time 1 hour before and 1 hour after)
Friday: Training from 17.30 to 20.00 divided into two groups
(Preparation time 1 hour before and 1 hour after)
Sundays: training between 13-16
Some Saturdays and Sundays competition days between 08,00-18,00

After the competition weekends given two consecutive days off a week. In the mornings, the Swedish education will be made through the school. There will also be time for the volunteer to devote to their own projects. During each month the volunteer will earn 2 days of holiday that he/she can use after a dialogue with the mentor.
Time will also be made for promoting the club, being in the school and showing table tennis for the students and taking part in board meetings of the club.

As the volunteer will live with other volunteers also working evenings at the local youth center we hope to make sure the volunteer will not be alone during the daytime. It is important for us that the volunteer also spends time with local youth and gets included in the Swedish society. The youth involved in the table tennis club are looking forward to getting to know the volunteer and spend time together. The club has experience with making sure that the volunteers get in contact and form social bonds with local youth since hosting volunteers a few years ago. The whole club is very involved in hosting a volunteer so we believe we have a strong social security net surrounding the volunteer.
